I think Loic and Finn are great examples of "better" or at least for them "faster" Ohlins isnt marketing whatever it is that team Spesh is using, so you wouldnt think they be under pressure to run it. Id say both those riders are after any possible margin available, with budget and backing to make it happen. Whether its "better" for everyone is up for debate. Whether it makes the difference in the end, also up for debate, but you would think "they" think its better/faster. The FA stuff, maybe some pressure from the sponsor/marketing dept, maybe none of it...

What a depressing set of comments today. Biking is a hobby, people can enjoy it as they wish. Get over yourselves and let people be happy. Complaints about other peoples opinions are not tech rumors.

I've seen the geo chart and all of the press materials. There's no S, M, L, now it's S2,S3, etc. From memory, the S3 is something like a 471 reach and the S4 is 490-something. My V1 Large is 484 which is perfect. The other geo (head angle, rear center, stack, etc.) is basically identical. It's a 4 bar design now too like the Druid V2. Shock size and seat post diameter are both the same which is nice. No major changes, I don't see much of a reason to upgrade but I guess I'll wait for some reviews

Robert from The Loam Wolf here. I was the one who broke the Scalpel, and I’m not surprised I did - overshot the landing of a large jump for an XC bike, landing in the pocket between the landing and the flat ground after it. Huge bottom out. I corrected Kaz at Pinkbike’s quote - he had flatteringly guessed me to be 190lbs, whereas I am 220lbs. Nothing fishy. I wholeheartedly believe the Scalpel is fit for purpose and that it was my fault! Was having far too much fun and got carried away.
