I sporadically think about buying an e bike, then as I delve a bit deeper I start reading all the stories about motor replacements and other issues. The amount of used e bikes where the seller says it's got a brand new motor or motor and battery are really off putting, the failure rate is unacceptably high IMO. Manufacturers only offering a two year warranty on motors and batteries is also scary to me. No way I'm spending £5k+ on something that's potentially worth jack shit in 3 years.

Funny. I almost started a very similar thread. Just so we are clear, I tried to distill Bruni's rant into one hypothesis. Please clean this up if I'm wrong... Hypothesis: If you cut the field to a more elite group you will be able to put on a better race with better TV qualities which will amount to higher dollar sponsors for those at the top. Listening to Bruni walk us through his logic I have to say, I do not agree. I've heard similar things for more than 2 decades, and it doesn't seem to me that this is...

I hope it's okay to post this, since it's racing-related, even if not Downhill: "Despite trying conditions, Canadian cross country marathon national champion Haley Smith (Maxxis Factory Racing) shone. The Uxbridge, Ont. racer scored silver in the elite women’s World Cup XCM final. Only U.S. local Hannah Otto (Pivot Cycles) would finish ahead of the Canadian to take the win on home soil...... XC Marathon racing is a new addition to the World Cup calendar for 2023. Despite earning the World Cup name, the endurance series has not yet recieved the same level of coverage (or any live coverage at...

You guys know that Greg must be reading this thread too at some point and smiling at the things people assume what they know about him and what they believe he will do, right? This interest in a person alone, stemming from multiple people from across the globe is worth more than a bit, if we talk about marketing. As far as I am concerned, I was lucky enough to cross paths with Greg a few times in this lifetime. First one was at Kaprun 2002, a race I hitchhiked to. I ended up watching the 4-cross qualies with Greg...

With the EDR on the same day as the DHI Training, we will not see any riders competing in both races in Leogang I guess. I find that a little sad, because a lot of pros did both the EWS and DH events in the past when the calendar allowed it.

It doesn't need to be broadcast live, in fact its terrible to put on live and that's been stated for years. It's always been better cover as a big event with story's, photos and video's coming out over a week or two. For a live feed you'd need to set up a feed where you slot in your favorite riders or stages and it auto swaps to those riders or stages are people come down, kind of like an advanced AI version of the WC DH race. Like, pick your fav 10-15 riders and follow them on track for the day...

[tinfoil hat on] The Industry ™ is heavily trying to get as many ebikes as they can in the market. I still maintain the prices of the bikes we all know and love since always went up to make ebikes more appealing. I mean, if you're a noob, why would you get a bike if 200 bucks more gets you a battery, a motor and less effort? They're also trying to bridge the looks gap, enlarging the downtubes and the BB area. And ultimately, you find pieces like this: https://www.singletracks.com/mtb-gear/what-should-riders-call-non-elect… Where the renaming of MTBs gets thrown in the arena...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funiculaire_du_pic_du_Jer 80 passengers every 15 minutes (plus load / unload time). Wonder how many they can fit with bikes? For comparison, the gondola at Fort William handles 1700 people an hour. https://www.nevisrange.co.uk/activities/mountain-gondola/ The UCI has rules for just about everything, why not a minimum uplift capacity for the venue?

Something else to think about- if 1/2 of DH bikes are going to rental fleets- why do the renters have to deal with WC winning geometry? How about this 'rental' spec DH bike with geometry more friendly for a family from Iowa to cruise the green runs on? *66deg head angle with 0mm stem = same 'safe' distance behind the front wheel with less floppy steering at 7mph *140mm cranks to never hit on the ground when you're coasting with 1 crank pointed straight down *Single speed- geared to pedal from the rental shop to the lift and from the...
