8/26/2024 6:36am BikeDoc has Maxima and Dirrettisima in stock, i just bought another set of Dirrettisima. I like some free stroke, light lever allows me to keep fingers on levers without engaging the brakes, reduce arm pump. if you guys want the least free stroke on the market, go with the Radic Kaha. The bleed process suggests leaving pads IN the caliper...

8/20/2024 6:49pm I'll pre-empt the inevitable butthurt about the below by saying that all of these options are good. They are all powerful, all reasonably easy enough to work on, and all (mostly) consistent. I mainly say that because people adore Saints and I found them to be the weaker in almost every category compared to others, but still good. I'd also caveat that "power" is somewhat misunderstood IMO. Most people don't have the means to measure overall, total available power, rather they base it on how the brakes feel. A brake like the Maximas may have a ton of overall power...

8/8/2024 6:19pm That is an outrageous (ly good) build for an outrageous (ly good) price.I'm baffled. What is this a loss leader for YT? Making the industry look silly at this point.

Simann Added a reply to Poll: Electric shifting vs mechanical shifting
7/31/2024 6:44pm Same situation i found myself in. Injured right wrist (tendonitis/carpal tunnel). Had AXS for 2.5 years, no issue. Went back to SRAM mechanical and boy was that extra effort of shifting noticeable in my wrist and thumb. It was rather shocking how much more you have to adjust your grip and thumb, definitely made me realize how much grip you...

7/31/2024 6:41pm I find the light touch on the shifter with electronic shifting to be a big advantage, but that's because it aggravates the nerve damage I have in my wrist less than cable activated shifting. I'm very unlikely to go back to cables

7/28/2024 5:34pm More powerful than the V4? I don't really think so, at least not in my experience, the power delivery felt really similar although the V4s feel like the power comes on a bit earlier in the lever stroke. The Maximas need a bit more length in the lever pull to get the same power out, but it's real negligible. The power out of the Maximas wasn't mind blowingly higher than the V4s I ran, not in my observation anyway. The Enduro MTB test similarly showed higher power out of the V4s, but again only marginally.

7/28/2024 5:31pm Reliability wise, these are second to none. Mine are 7 years old (C41) and only just developed a slight weep at the lever. Loctite is needed for the bar clamp, otherwise performance has been faultless. For parts, bikeDoc has everything. In comparison: Tech3 E4 needed a rebuild after 1 year and constant adjusting, not nearly as powerful - given away out of frustration. XT had random bite points and leaked at both levers after 1 year, not rebuildable (disgusting in this era) - trashed. Codes needed a rebuild after ~3 years, they can be made as powerful with braided lines...

7/22/2024 2:40pm Yeah, I saw that review recently! The longer lever blades on the Maxima's are right up my alley, some early onset arthritis has me two-finger braking now. The more power per squeeze I can get, the better.

7/22/2024 2:39pm according to enduro mtb on the brake test, Maximas and T4V4s are quite similar in terms of power and how they deliver it, main difference is the x2 price + mineral vs dot and that the ergonomics is way better on Trickstuff.
