I think he’s been off Orbea for a while and that would be a weird way to launch their new bike when they have FMD to do it. That bike looks way too generic to be an Orbea, I’d expect something a bit more Wild.

As far as the price difference between e & non e, seriously I don't care. Although I have 'means' now, when I was young poor and all on my own since HS, I still spent all of my money on the nice toys (sport bikes mostly back then). Find something you love and do it till it kills you, I always say.

Big brands know you were going to buy a Raaw or a Forbidden. You think they’re trying to compete with those brands? Heck no. They’re happy to let them get in on the niche end of the game. Big brands don’t have time to chase trends. They make big fancy bikes for people with teslas and rivianz. Dakine Fanny and pit vipers and discretionary income. A couple kids on the way that the big brands want to get into the Fam asap. At least half the people at the big brands don’t even ride. They come from tech and vacuum...

It makes a ton of sense from a manufacturers point of view. From a consumer standpoint less so. The compromises of using a shared frame may be small but they are there. If you were designing with a clean sheet I'm not sure you'd have a longer reach and steeper SA on the shorter travel version. The whole we didn't see the point of proportional rear centres but we went to all the trouble of changing it anyway by a tiny amount is odd. But we did vary the BB height between low-ish(36mm) and incredibly low(48mm!!-tbh I don't of any...

Weird the ESTA is steeper in small, then slacker in m/xm, then steeper again in the big sizes. Usually they just say it's the same across the board or steepens slightly as size goes up. Must be for rear wheel clearance. As to the short cs/long cs thing, I'll just say I wouldn't want all brands to be on the short train or long train. Why should every brand go long? That would be boring. Options are better for consumers on the whole.

Geometron wasn't happy about people finding a spot to squeeze a bottle in up front of the shock so they stick a brace in there. Any list of what has changed on this one?

I just don't think the data is there to conclude that lockouts helped on the motorway. Riders were tucking as much as pedaling, and heavier riders seemed to fair better. Its likely that speedsuit-gate had more of an impact. I would be open to the idea that a lockout allows you to optimize your suspension setup for the rough and chunk, and not trying to find a compromise between that and the motorway, hypothetically giving you a faster time in the middle (chunky) section.

With all this 6 bar nonsense, testing cromo chainstays, electronic compression, etc I want someone to (re)try the V2 Magic Link. V1 was a flexy prototype, V3 only used a single shock, so I think V2 was the sweet spot (its a shame I cracked two of them back in the day). Yes, it pedaled better, but thats not its most interesting characteristic. You would set up your suspension rather stiff, with the compression higher than normal, allowing it to be rather firm when pumping. When you hit rough stuff, the rearward forces on the frame increased the leverage ratio...

This photo shows the vest. I originally thought it was arms all in one. This seems legit to go around the rules ā€œone pieceā€ but the skin suit definition is getting blurry for many riders.

Unfortunately, no. Those closest I’ve come is my 5 year old Royal pants. Every other pair of pants I’ve tried is EXTREMELY tight from the ankle to the bottom of my knee, then fits like Jncos from the center of the knee up to the waist, ultimately creating a look that appears like I’m wearing a hoodie as pants, that gets caught on my saddle nose. I found some light at the end of the tunnel, shorts wise, when I started wearing women’s labeled shorts. Identical to men’s except they usually had a shorter waist to crotch length, and a...

It looks like FMD will be running it too. Also, it looks like they broke out the team colorway bike for the promo video, but I imagine Tahnee will still be on the proto bike for racing.
