What is different this year is riders have to qualify. Not many seem to this know as it’s not been well communicated. Sad really. For some small nations, You do what you have to to make the team, your one chance on a world stage you’ve earned and your week may be over after Friday qualifiers - having to sit the racing out two days later. Not sure what the point of the rule is or why the change but I’d say a bit of a downer for sure.

I can make a case for both sides of this argument. But I think in this situation you have to look at context, this was right after a really crazy qualifications and it's the Squid's interviewing them. In most cases these riders have personal relationships with the photographers/videographers, they hangout together all season and in some cases most of the off-season. So when one of them sticks a recorder out and starts asking them questions they are probably extremely relaxed and thus the colorful language. If they were speaking like this during a press conference or other "planned" event then...

here's what lee trumpore just sent --- Qualis was shit show. Sun all morning then torrential rain in the 30 min between jr men quali and start of women. Myriam got hurt in practice so poor Rachael had to drop in first to a super slick track with zero lines cut into it. Gwin crashed in practice and hurt his thumb again, he was planning to run until about 10 min before start when a second round of rain rolled in so he just broke the beam and called it a day.
