Sometimes I don't get the hate Sram receives. We are all arguably on better bikes and better drivetrains because of their push for 1x. One of my favorite bikes ever, the Kona Process 111 was able to be created because of 1x systems (Kona unapologetically designed it without the ability to run a FD). Color me a Sram fanboy if you'd like, but they aren't afraid to shake up the status quo with new innovations. I have AXS on my Spur and run the AXS reverb on 2 different bikes and absolutely love it. Having XX/XO 'SL' groupsets does make sense to differentiate the XC from Enduro crowd. Last (current) gen AXS was marketed as XX1 for XC and XO1 for Enduro because of weight/materials. With an SL in the lineup they can have a 'full strength' offering and another with parts switched to carbon/hollowpin/drillium so all top riders are on XX regardless of discipline. Also re: AXS clutch strength, SRAM has stated that the clutch is the same between AXS and wired groupsets. Likely the difference comes from additional resistance provided by the cable.
