11/17/2025 10:51pm re: bearings In my 30 years of riding mountain bikes, I've owned 40+ full suspension bikes, and not once did I ever consider bearing replacement ease/difficulty when considering a frame. I know we're a bunch of nerds on here, but do some of you actually consider that when looking at a bike?

11/17/2025 10:49pm Regarding this 'too many bearings' thing I'm imagining those infomercials where the actor over dramatically struggles with something and loses conttol but its bearings and they go flying all over the place.

11/16/2025 1:59pm On the topic of 6 bar pedal bikes, anyone got info on this? Spotted at my local trails a while back, seems pretty dialed for a proto….

11/16/2025 1:57pm Something screams scor at me with this bike but they went out of business, somehow…BMC, the company behind it, might want to give it another try.

9/28/2025 1:23pm From how it ended with Gwin and later Dak it never seems like YT was interested in doing the "honorable" thing.

9/26/2025 1:19pm Here’s a translated post from the German site mtb-news.de on the YT case: According to our information, the YT Mob World Cup team will compete in the usual lineup at the last two Downhill World Cups of the season. Since Les Gets, however, the team has had to scale back to a much smaller setup for financial reasons. In Lenzerheide...

7/29/2025 4:13am Not that anyone ever would ever bother to do this on the dumb two-shock ebike, but I’m trying to imagine how hard it would be to pick a base tune for two identical shocks working in parallel on a fairly normal leverage rate. The funny thing with the one flight attendant shock is that, in that dual shock layout, every time the FA shock locked out it would make the suspension twice as soft by diverting all the force to the other shock.

7/18/2025 4:32am Therw as one of the bigger mail order companies that had an in house bike brand and the rumors were that they would order bikes with the cheapest steel frames they could buy but set-up with top shelf parts.. When the bikes got here, they stripped the bikes and tossed the frames.. A former employer of mine would buy a good amount of closeout bikes, and when it came down to some sizes that didn't sell, they would strip the bikes and sell all the parts at a deep discount.. I never did a breakdown, but he probably made more...

7/18/2025 4:31am I think the primary compensation mechanism for tech bro execs is when they get to imitate Steve Jobs walking around a visually minimal stage design in jeans talking about a powerpoint: https://www.forbes.com/sites/billroberson/2025/03/31/rivians-micromobil…

7/18/2025 4:30am Back to YT for a second. What kind of multiple do you think this type of revenue and earnings would have garnered in 2021?

7/18/2025 4:28am Sorry but have to respond to this. Who would spend thousands of dollars on a bike from a company in self-administration? You are taking a massive gamble on warranty and even spare parts. As far as I am concerned, they are no longer a viable bike brand.

7/18/2025 4:26am I'd go with: "I'm amazing and built this incredible brand so that everyone could afford high performance bikes - basically just like feeding the hungry. I sold it for the good of everyone. External things happened. Plus, I wasn't around I came back. Other people had made mistakes. I was going to fix, but external things happened" That was an insincere, arrogant pile of shit and PR malpractice. It's so f'ing simple: say you could have done better and say you're SORRY for unavoidable negative effects, even if temporary, to your customers (and employees).

7/18/2025 4:26am Ya the e-mail is at least honest and up front and doesn't try too hard to hide from how they fucked up. The bigger CS suicide, in some regards, is popping their biggest 'flash' sale right before this happened, potentially trapping many buyers with the allure of insane prices right before they (maybe knowingly) went into insolvency. Again, with their wording... People who got their bikes before are obviously fine, and people could order now under 'normal business' and get a bike... But anybody who ordered a bike that was waiting to be delivered by the time they went insolvent...

7/18/2025 4:25am I find it very ironical and super hypocritical for somebody like the YT main guy to whine about ”discount wars”, when they basically were the ones who brought this aggressive pricing strategy to the market. Dude, are you for real??? I honestly hope everybody will be OK after this, but I can't remember all the direct-to-consumer brands being too sympathetic towards the bike shops who, at the end of the day, stay at the core of our sport. And the problem is that people really believe that they are entitled to that discounted ”high end bike” with top parts, even...
