Just give me good parts, not top of the line parts, but good parts that won't break and leave me without a bike for half the season, at a reasonable price. It's great places have warranty but I don't want to have to use it, I just want to ride, wash my bike, throw chain lube on and take it out next ride. New bikes with performance elite suspension shouldn't cost over $5000 Cad. And let me choose the paint color for a few bucks extra, that would be cool.

A truly waterproof headset would be nice. I live in a dry area and my headset still gets creaky and rusty way too soon. Obviously I wouldn’t buy a new bike because of only that

There was an interesting post by @bulletbass man in our 2024 team rumors forum thread about what new bikes and what bike brands are offering lately. Short version - bikes are so good these days that gimmicks and/or tiny performance improvements aren't enough to warrant a new bike purchase. bulletbass' suggestion to get more sales is that brands should improve the mountain bike ownership experience with free service/maintenance plans or parts warranties. this idea is really intriguing, so i wanted to throw out on its own to see what you all think. bullet's original post below I think bike companies...

Theres more to it than simply pivot location in terms of the bike pedalling well, thats a generalization that doesnt really hold up. You can make a HP bike pedal as well or better than a non-HP bike (lets be honest, theres no "traditional" bike here for arguments sake) and when we are talking about HP bikes, we are talking about the seemingly more prevelant HP idler equipped bikes. A horst link, or VPP bike can be built to have a high virtual pivot, and not rely on an idler, but theres a whole other differnet set of challenges The...

9/13/2023 3:52pm What makes you think a short travel HP won't pedal as well as a longer travel traditional? I don't know pedaling kinematics well enough to know, but I do know the idlers don't cause that much drag unless you were putting a REALLY big day in.

Lol you mean 10-11 months from now? No way. Only possible with the Enduro if they pulled the plug on the bike they were about to launch to go back to drawing board to re-design it to match the prototype design Finn and Loic are racing on. The SJEvo on the other hand is already baked in to match the ebike they dropped a few months back.

I was thinking that when I recently tried putting a strap around my buddy's Bronson on the back of my truck. The straps on the tailgate pad weren't long enough to get it to velcro back onto itself around the massive downtube. I immediately thought that it was so they didn't have to make new molds to go SL emtb.

I have to admit, the "companies are making regular bikes look more like e-bikes so the e-bikes look more like regular bikes" conspiracy theorists just got a little more ammunition with the release of the Heckler SL.

I just put a set of 11sp XT linkglide shifter ,derailleur and cassette on my enduro bike. the shifting is unreal. Never felt shifting so precise and crisp (I have only used shimano's XT/XTR).. I tried for science using conventional shimano 11sp cassette, did not work... I knew shifter/derailleur work on a different pull, but the cassette is also part of the magic. anyway, just a heads up in the era of "transmission" ; )
