With the first pass of 2025 UCI team data released, let's take a look at how things are shaking out. It's rough out there kids. All data pulled from the UCI website (https://www.uci.org/riders/mountain-bike-riders-teams/1V5hGPnEvXzbIqkjU…). In past years this data hasn't been final at initial release, so things may change a little in the coming weeks. As expected the number of teams in 2025 has come down dramatically - a roughly 38% decrease across all disciplines. Long post that was intended to be a short post but then I got to picking it apart and teasing it out further. Sorry! I'm not conviced "should" is a word in the UCI/WBD vocabulary. A quick reframing of the whole idea (that I don't necessarily agree with but I could see as being completely within the scope of how the UCI could be looking at it): Is Gwin any less retired than Minnaar? Who raced more last year and who seems to be more publicly active in DH right now? How about Richie Rude? RR used to ride downhill...

Looks like Yeti signed Jonty Williams, fast Junior out of NZ but doesn’t bring many points with him. Lucas Dedora is listed with Frameworks. I don’t believe that’s been mention here so would be a boost to their points.

PFR can be just be BK + Jenna. They're both top 50 UCI in their categories so get a start without needing to being on an "UCI MTB WORLD SERIES TEAM" or "WILDCARD" team.

Be a real shame to not have PFR at the world cups. Be a shame to not see Atherons at the races either. Only so many wild card spots available, there will be good teams, great riders who will miss out. If not WCs, do we see these teams do the ixs and other regional competitions like monster pro DH in the USA

What is happening with Pivot & BK then ? They are the last one without official annoncement right ? Keep it racing rumors please - we do not care about private life !

A LOT of anticipation/expectation around Aletha's (Ally O's 😁) upcoming season. My thinking is that joining Canyon Collective sets her up well for it. I'm trying out the "Ally O" thing. Maybe it will stick. Maybe I'll get a thump on the head next time she spots me.

That BB and crank set rules out a gearbox bike for the Bulldog then.
