I can't say I care too much BUT for arguments sake on a slow Friday at work... BY's 4th paragraph reads to me as a STRONG allusion to low quality from OG. What I've read from OG they only referenced lawyers and contract issues, which isn't a direct blame on either side. Also, if you don't want to say something in a public forum just don't say anything, especially if you're not defending yourself. I don't really want to fight other peoples fights but that EOY PnL sheet ain't as fun.

Of all the standards that could potentially happen, I hope a standard motor mounting pattern will happen, or at least shrink the pattern down to 2 or 3 different patterns depending on the motor. (EU USB-C law where you at?) As a consumer I would be worried about a company like DJI, or even smaller 3rd party motor makers not seeing sales where they want and cut off production, leaving me SOL except to the frame maker if I was to have issues. If I was a product manager or designer in the bike world, it'd be a similar concern...

Yeah unsurprisingly when you outsource all of your technology production for 30 or 40 years, those people get really really good at it...... especially when it comes to manufacturing something to a price. I'm sure a lot of western companies could build a great competitor to DJI but it might cost about three times as much! Are people willing to pay that much for something just because it isn't Chinese? We also forget that products made in China aren't sometimes bad because of where they are made, they are bad because they were made to a spec and a price...

I don't know where you get the idea that NA is more technologically advanced than China. At least on the electric car front, China's putting out better products than the US or Germany from what I've read.

A wirelessly actuated linear servo placed near the BB shell. Think Di2 battery form factor. A beefy 21700 cell that lasts half a riding season and a charge port accessible through the in-frame storage box. Backup option is a charge plug coming out of the frame port. Compatible with all wired dropper posts. I might be working on something similar 😉

^This. There is nowhere else to put it. Functionally mid-post makes the most sense (probably why Fox and RS landed there) and internally is the best aesthetically.

So the battery at the seat rail clamp is too bulky, around the middle of the post is ugly, and hidden at the bottom is inconvenient. I'm sure someone would pay good money for another idea of where else to put it.

Oh I've never found bike park runs to be something I couldn't live without water until the bottom of. You don't have to drink every 15 minutes. I am guilty of taking a camo bag cooler down first run and stashing in an area where the beer is available half way down. 😁 That said trail bikes should absolutely should have bottle bosses 100%. 170mm bikes are trail bikes even if they are burly ones. Not sure why people push the 170-180mm stuff as uplift only. They are not dh bikes, will never be, and are not intended to be.

Some of you are taking this out of context - I don't mean a frame should be $300 from the local car shop. I'm saying whatever expertise or warranty allowance involved, it's hard to justify a $1500+ usd steel hardtail frame, especially when there's FS frames AND TI hardtail frames for that price. My carshop example was a bad one I'll admit that. Actually this becomes a question in itself and I'd be happy if y'all can educate me - what makes a steel hardtail worth so much? Just for context - there's a norco optic frame on sale at...

I'm ready to be downvoted, but here's a hot take - I think most of the $1500+ steel HT frames from "boutique" builders are marketing BS. Titanium is hard to weld correctly, so I'll cut some slack for TI stuff. Al needs to be heat treated. But steel? Your local car shop/welder can penetrate weld. No amount of "custom geo" "bespoke" "compliance" "insert new hot word here" is going to make some welded steel tubes that was aligned on a jig be worth that amount of money. Reynold steel tubes cost 30-40 for a downtube/toptube section.Full suspension alignment is a...

A lot of it is due to rider ability and preference and existing bike setup (i.e native tune of the shock). In my opinion, broadly speaking a fast rider on a 140+ bike that likes moderate to high damping (and you should) will benefit from re-tuning a shock to a firmer overall settings. As on Rockshox and more to the point fox products, most fast riders are close to maximising the usable damping range before they hit a LSC wall and can't reallt use the end range of clicks without it losing early travel grip and responsiveness. Its why so...

When you order it, it does actually come tuned for you already. But since a lot of people love tinkering with their setups, we figured we'd try to make it easier rather than obstruct their efforts.

Like Big Hits? 190/200? Those were awesome and they make me jealous that the kids THESE days gets 26/27 mullet Status builds, but I'm too big to try to use that reach lol to this day i'd still kill for a 2015 status DH build. and I know Specialized stuck a DC on the enduro 'evo' one year and yeah maybe wouldnt love riding a stinky in 2024 but i'd absolutely take a Process 167 off someones hands lol

For the park rats, depending on what trails you actually ride, a shorter travel bike may make the most sense. A lot of full-on DH bikes feel a bit "sleddy", if you spend all your time on A-Line. But yeah, these kinds of builds will always be pretty niche, that's for sure. I had a good time when I did a "downduro" conversion of my Capra back in 2020, I liked how the bike rode. It didn't feel unbalanced at all (but then my build was 170/180 of course, so that was probably to be expected): https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/The-Downduro-Project-Dual-Crown-and-a….

You know, before "enduro" we used have these things called "freeride" bikes, so it's not a new concept.

I was going to private message you but you have it turned off. I don’t disagree wcs needed their fields cut down for logistical reasons. I do disagree greatly with how the eso is doing it. And disagree greatly that their goals align in reality with riders best interests. But hey if a company that’s nearly 50 billion in debt and a race director who effectively destroyed the majority of professional opportunities in the race series that made him famous doesn’t deserve criticism and caution well I simply don’t know who does. Thanks for correcting me on the origins of...
