If Trek hadn’t put all their eggs in the Armstrong-worship basket 20 years ago, they’d probably still have functioning steel and aluminum production lines in house, like they did before they fully embraced the concept of 4 different levels of imported carbon for everyone…

mickey Added a reply to US Nationals 2025 venue?

I’ve worked for the current owners of BME, they are some of the most anti-usac and anti-uci people I have dealt with in bike racing, and pretty widely disliked by their customers. I can’t see them being interested in working with USAC or UCI officials. Remember- usac doesn’t deal with race promoters to book national championships, they deal with local...

The US nats rumor is a return to a classic so-cal venue. A place with the dozens of vacant hotel rooms USAC demands in their contract.

Best of two run was a NORBA national format up until 1996 or so. But no, this is “2 stage enduro on one XC trail”, is hopefully, a one-off. Varsity Man won on an Epic Evo, Club men on a Hightower. My guy pretzeled the carbon wheel I loaned him, for his Sentinel ahahaa. If kids race downhill on dh...

A commisaire will likely just make up a rule on site. The ole NORBA 24” plus, 2 brakes, 3 gears rule is long gone. I looked in the .pdf of the 2024 usac rulebook, they don’t have technical rules listed for slalom or dh at all, just procedural stuff.

Looks like there's 180 feet of elevation to work with there? Yikes.

180 feet of hyper machine worked flow. I expect most people will race XC bikes or slalom bikes for the DH. I just slapped some fresh Rekons onto 29” carbon trail wheels for the collegiate gravity racer i’ve been supplying bikes to all season. The DS bike and tire combo he has been on all season will be dope for...

Go to the website folks, the Collegiate dh race is in Coler. USAC really, really doesn’t care about gravity racing, in case you haven’t noticed.

Afaik, USAC moved collegiate nats to Bentonville without actually asking anyone on staff at Rock Creek if they could host on the new date. Things are just fine at the venue now and Henderson County in general is open for bussiness and could really, really use the tourist dollars. The DH race will be at Coler Preserve. Even the 1999...

I’ve spent more in the last two years, but only because I am making a conscious decision to buy some things at retail from a friend who just opened a shop. I’ve had direct access to wholesale accounts and industry EP since 1998, but it wasn’t until 2022 that someone started a local bikeshop impactful enough for me to choose...

If you don’t think of Evil and E.13 (named after a police precinct in Boston) as Maine-based companies, you probably aren’t in your mid 40’s, ahaha.
Pretty sure these builds exist to outfit bike parks with their rental fleet for the year.
