WBD has announced the end of their Track Champions League, a made for tv velodrome/discotheque series, which, afaik, represented WBD’s first direct investment in cycling. The end of TCL leaves the basically broken UCI Nation’s Cup as the only global track series. If WBD is killing made for tv events- it’s hard not to see them axing events that can’t...

They probably put some dork ass roadie sales guy in charge or something. My short time in and around the bike industry revealed that the wrong dudes are usually in charge of the cool stuff. Mind boggling.

Well said. If Neko started a Frameworks (not to be confused with the new computer company) SubscribeStar or Patreon to support his world cup team, as well as his R&D, no one would be complaining or poking fun at him, and a bunch of us would probably subscribe.

another thought i had..... having a discount from that program could possibly be used to give the sponsors a way to more directly quantify the amount of sales they are getting via their sponsorship via that program

To crowdsource unpaid labor for the leaches that are left? Nah. The number of times that i KNOW people who work for Outside have stolen information from these forums is too great for anything like that. Making unpaid posters do the work that journalists used to, so the tiny number of civilian people who care can score some cred? I’ve...

I would be willing to pay for Escape Collective if they didn’t cover gravel but did cover domestic road, cx and XCO in America. As a life long mtb, cx, road racer, gravel racing is clearly a horrible, regressive trend that is doing irreparable damage to legacy bike racing. The most expensive races, ever, with the lowest costs for a...

Someone needs to get Richard Schwinn(now that Waterford is closed, too) on a podcast and ask him how he feels NOW about moving the majority of Schwinn production to Giant in the mid 80’s. I have a buddy that works at the Columbia bicycle factory in Massachusetts. Founded in 1877, and currently located in the 1914-built factory, Columbia stopped making...

All i know is Joe’s team’s “only fans thing” is less insulting to my intelligence than the press releases that dropped from Temecula around the same time… If that Axess site was for Frameworks 5-dev, i’d sign up in an instant.

...and everyone called me stupid and said I was overreacting for stretching a bit and buying a bike pre-election because I knew what was going to happen with these tariffs. Of course, I'm not a bike company but I'd hate to be shutting down my riding because I couldn't deal with the tariffs. I was looking to WR1 for new wheels when I eventually go beyond help with my current ones. Might have to shift to Nobl since they now have an in-the-US facility.

The PR on that deal kinda had me thinking that they "investment " by the factory into the brand might have based on Factor owing them money..

Factor, as someone who knows multiple people who do bussiness with the factory that they use(which is not surprisingly, now one of their “investors”), got out over their skis trying to grow, ordered too much crap they couldn’t move, etc. Everyone i know in road and cx who was sponsored by Factor last year had their support rolled back mid summer...

I know, it’s a miracle! Pretty much every enduro nats USAC staff ran was a burning garbage fire due to their lack of knowledge, verging on contempt for the discipline. The worst was hearing bigwig USAC officials tell junior racers that “they hate enduro”! $20 licenses, also? 😜

Is there any modern mountain biking in Southern California? The road bike brand i consult for keeps an office in Santa Monica, I am hard pressed to find trails within 2.5 hours where a modern bike even makes sense? Like most people who have been racing mtb for 30 years, i was unfortunate enough to race Fontana. Central TX has...

Spider is incredibly fun. Kids 12 and under ride and race free there, btw! They even have a super cute motel on site with a marina and a pool. Just across the street from Spider is RPR, which is a ranch full of sweet slopestyle and enduro stuff(and a niiice floodlit ds track)… 20 minutes away is Station mtb park...

Whatcha mean Chaz, doesn’t everyone live in Squamish? For places where climbs and descents are less than a minute long(most places on earth) modern tractor pulling gearing seems a little… off. I wish more bikes(looking at you Fuel EX Gen 6) could fit bigger chainrings so we could make better use of the wide range casettes.

Classified hubs? Nah. I am testing one on a road bike, even in that application the extra weight on the rear wheel throws off handling enough for me to not be interested in the product. Adding all that extra mass at your rear axle? No thanks.
