3/6/2026 6:33am Gates seems to be turning themselves inside out to try to win this case via stacking lawyer fees and having bigger pockets. First they said the design they got from Spot wasn't any good so they had to fix it so they've already paid any royalties that would be owed. A federal judge dismissed that and sent it to a state court. Then - at the state court - Gates said that their contract with Spot regarding royalties wasn't even valid in the first place. The state judge dismissed that. Then Gates asked to delay the case and to move...

3/5/2026 3:39pm I did a quick search and didn’t see anything about this, but what’s the feeling about Spot’s lawsuit against Gates? https://www.denverpost.com/2026/02/27/colorado-bike-builder-spot-lawsui… https://bikerumor.com/spot-sues-gates-over-years-of-unpaid-royalties/

3/5/2026 12:15pm The Nobl hook flange hubs look to be rebranded Erase Hubs. Based on this Geometry chart, the flanges don't appear to be the same on both sides. https://www.erasecomponents.com/geometrychart

3/5/2026 10:07am The new Berd Hawk30 Gold is also a rebranded (or maybe licensed?) Erase hub, and uses equal “spoke” lengths. Now that I look at it, there’s a different rim depth f/r on the trail rims, so they are probably using a standard Erase hub body.

3/5/2026 6:45am I'm wondering if Berd is going to make their new hook flange hubs available aftermarket. I like that NOBL is using them, anyone know if theirs have "Equal Spoke Length" as a feature? Since NOBL isn't saying anything about it, I'm guessing not.

3/5/2026 6:38am I worked on advocacy for the 15 minute city concept, and can tell you that literally no one has actually proposed restricting travel. That idea is a "bUt OuR fReEdUmB" talking point aimed at people who do their own "research".

3/4/2026 7:42pm I'd imagine that Giant makes considerably more building bikes for other companies than selling their own. Plus, with leadership changes and the passing of their founder, maybe they are restructuring how they market their own brand. With everything they've put into the processes on the new Anthem and TCR Advanced, I'd expect to see that used for other brands at...

3/4/2026 1:56pm Well they did point out that they were talking about 30 mm internal width, so the claim could still have some merit (that Roval wheel is 28.5…splitting hairs maybe, but still…).

3/3/2026 6:54am Maybe, although the DSW frames might cost even more- still need to be welded and they require a bunch of special hydroforming and that tooling. I think to make a really cheap frame you need to get away from welding. Or go fully robotic- which is how I think department store bikes are made.

3/2/2026 11:44am That's interesting- do you think that Specialized has moved somewhat in this direction with their DSW frames like the Chisel FS? I can see where, if scaled appropriately, this would make the welding and alignment of an aluminum frame much less expensive to produce. Then again, I keep hearing that with tariffs and other macroeconomic factors that aluminum is no...

2/26/2026 8:47am I feel like I have to say something here. About 5 years ago, when I was the executive director of Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking, we hired Momentum Trail Concepts to build a DH trail for us. What Steve and crew did on Pick Your Poison was exceptional. I am unfamiliar with the concerns you've voiced about Eagle County, CO. But as someone who has run a trail org and who has thousands of hours building and maintaining trails myself, I would have zero hesitation to recommend MTC as a top notch trail builder.
