As an actual garage bike building hack I don't see any " garage-made welding vibe" here. I see pro level work, 3d printed bb/pivot housing, and spotless welds. The pro that welded this really shouldn't be lumped in with garage level work. You hide "garage-made welding vibe " under paint designed to distract from looking at the welding, you put pro work like this on display in pure raw form.

Hopefully I'll do a quick substack on this one, because its really bad. LOL. Fox bought the company for $572M, financed with debt. Interest on the debt was roughly $107-115M per year. The unit was generating roughly $65-73M in EBTIDA per year. When you net everything out, Fox lost about $400M before counting capex and working capital. The only thing Fox retains in this deal are the losses. No IP sticks around, not that they'd want it anyway. Baseball has nothing to do with suspension. OUCH.

Thanks a good question, which is often asked... Well, we separate our brakes into three categories: Light duty (2 piston), Heavy duty (4 piston) and Extreme duty (4 piston). The difference between Heavy and Extreme are mostly heat capacity and wear limit. That's why GUSTAV uses thick pads, thick rotors (2.5 mm), which both give a longer duration until you have to buy new ones AND the massive caliper - together with the thick rotor - offer an immense heat resistance. Simply said: You will never get ANY kind of fading on this brake even under heaviest load. Of course...

Thanks for your questions, bottoms-up-brian! The MT7 and the RACE are both in our "Heavy Duty" class, meaning the total weight can go up to 225 kg. But the caliper of the RACE is a completely new construction, way stiffer (even stiffer than GUSTAV!) but we machined every gram of Aluminum away, so the caliper weighs the same as the MT7. But, yes, you're right.. the disadvantage of an Aluminum master is the heavier weight 😉 With our Carbotecture material we can build even lighter and more compact. That's why BMW is using our Carbotecture material for their motorcycle masters...

You mean the screw here on the upper right? That’s a plugged bore that we need to create the caliper’s oil channel. After forging the one-piece caliper, a drill goes in there and connects both sides of the caliper. There’s no other way to manufacture it. You can also understand it with a look at the previously shared "oil channel"-cut-image. After manufacturing, this screw is never removed again. It simply plugs the bore in the caliper. Disclaimer: there may be a delay now in answering your questions as our German Team will be out of Office now. It’s night in...

I´ve updated our first answer with another info. Sorry for that late info: W e´ve also developed a new smart Piston Alignment Tool to make caliper alignment easier. It ensures that all caliper pistons are aligned exactly symmetrically. This creates the best conditions for precise and uncomplicated alignment of the brake caliper. Further advantages include more even wear of the brake pads, a defined pressure point, and reduced braking and riding noise. You can find it here Piston alignment tool - MAGURA Bicycle Brakes & Spare Parts The 90s how-to video is at the bottom of this page. Available for...

Kona Stab had that as far back as at least 2004, two mounting points (the other one is right on top of the bottom bracket): I remember reading about Fabien Barel experimenting with the position depending on a track, and i've tried the same on my '08 Stab. Of course, I havent felt a slightest difference back then.

I will preface everything I am about to say by mentioning that I work for a wheel company, and as such I have an unusual capability to replace wheels. I am very very lucky to be where I am and as such this can be taken with a grain of salt. With that being said... Inserts for alloy rims are a tough sell for me. I am not an exceptional rider, nor am I particularly heavy rider(165lbs with kit), and I have destroyed an aluminum rim despite running a heavy Cushcore insert. Somewhere on this website there is an excellent...

A 170 with burly everything and a 120 or 130mm true trail bike with medium-weight everything. If I can have one more, it's a dirt jumper, and if I get four I'm adding a DH bike. But medium is as light as I can go. I can't have light things because I break them.

Honestly, I think the trick check is gonna be a hit. I don’t really care about it, but it reminds me of how ridiculously happy my 63-year-old mom (who still rips a meat bike, btw) gets from that little Garmin “beep” when you get airborne. Riding with her is hilarious because she’s popping off every little thing she can find, then letting out a full-on “whoop” every time it beeps. It’s wholesome as hell.

This product is triggering for me. Years ago, the one and only thing I ever funded on kickstarter was heated handlebar inserts that can be removed and recharged. The guy had a slick video and prototype. I ponied up the $100 dollars for an early adopter and waited. The guy strung us along for months and eventually stopped returning emails and ghosted us on kickstarter. That was the 1st and last time I ever used kickstarter.
