8/13/2026 12:33pm I will preface everything I am about to say by mentioning that I work for a wheel company, and as such I have an unusual capability to replace wheels. I am very very lucky to be where I am and as such this can be taken with a grain of salt. With that being said... Inserts for alloy rims are a tough sell for me. I am not an exceptional rider, nor am I particularly heavy rider(165lbs with kit), and I have destroyed an aluminum rim despite running a heavy Cushcore insert. Somewhere on this website there is an excellent...

LoamChomsky Added a reply to Maxxis’ New Minion DHX Tire and DH Casing - Thoughts and Discussion
7/31/2026 9:43pm I have an EXO+ DHF and DHR, both with the new Maxxterra. Seems good, but in a way like how new tires usually feel good compared to the old ones. Hard to say exactly how good, as I didn’t get to do a back to back with a new-old Maxxterra vs new-new Maxxterra. I suspect the real test will be...

7/31/2026 6:19am A 170 with burly everything and a 120 or 130mm true trail bike with medium-weight everything. If I can have one more, it's a dirt jumper, and if I get four I'm adding a DH bike. But medium is as light as I can go. I can't have light things because I break them.

7/30/2026 8:08am Also just got back from a family trip there a week and a half ago. My 12 year old son was loving the long blue laps out of Creekside, and the nonexistent lift lines and comparatively comfy gondolas were pretty great. Compared to the busy main village it was pretty calm.

5/1/2026 8:00pm Honestly, I think the trick check is gonna be a hit. I don’t really care about it, but it reminds me of how ridiculously happy my 63-year-old mom (who still rips a meat bike, btw) gets from that little Garmin “beep” when you get airborne. Riding with her is hilarious because she’s popping off every little thing she can find, then letting out a full-on “whoop” every time it beeps. It’s wholesome as hell.

4/15/2026 6:11pm This product is triggering for me. Years ago, the one and only thing I ever funded on kickstarter was heated handlebar inserts that can be removed and recharged. The guy had a slick video and prototype. I ponied up the $100 dollars for an early adopter and waited. The guy strung us along for months and eventually stopped returning emails and ghosted us on kickstarter. That was the 1st and last time I ever used kickstarter.

4/14/2026 7:20pm I just put it on the floor and stand on it. Add offcuts of 2x4 for extra emphasis if it’s really stuck.

Big Bird Liked a reply to forum topic Tire inserts - do you run them?
4/4/2026 10:06pm After my MS diagnosis and symptoms caused me to stop riding, I got a job at Art's cycles doing bike building/packing and I started a list of new bike tech that would come up that I've never gotten to use. Some of it was from before but I hadn't been able to afford. Inserts are on that list. Along with 27.5 and 29 inch wheels and many more. But I got So good at installing them. Experience installing motorcycle tires helped immensely. But most installs at the shop usually came back to me. Rims have that deeper section for a...

LoamChomsky Added a reply to Tire inserts - do you run them?
4/4/2026 7:56pm For me at least, running CC Pro or Tannus was encouraging me to run lower air pressure, which meant I needed inserts to protect my rims - so I think I was creating a positive feedback loop. No inserts now, just more psi. Though, they’re hanging there in my garage waiting for me to change my mind again …

12/25/2025 12:12pm Had the same problem with 4(!) Magura calipers, I emailed them and they sent me new calipers with pads and a small bottle of their brake fluid. My plan is to use them until they start weeping again and then try trp calipers with Shimano levers.

12/24/2025 2:55pm Once you find the winning combo I am curious what the durability of that system looks like. For example I had some Shiguras that felt great but in every instance I ended up with weepy banjos or weepy piston seals. Is there some mix and match combo of levers-hoses-calipers-fluid that feels good but is unreliable? Really enjoying the experimentation.

8/29/2025 10:13pm Can you imagine how many they could sell if these were just integrated into a seatpost? They could make literally DOZENS of dollars. Every “fast” guy at the bike park would have one.
