I know it's not DH, but interesting: Cannondale XC is folding for 2027. Enve has a made-in-USA XC bike almost ready to debut, possibly at Soldier Hollow Utah UCI race. (Enve is based in Utah and owned by Utah cyclists) Cannondale team and staff will transition into the Enve XC team for 2027

I wasn't sure, so I checked on Roots and Rain and it looks like Richie qualified at the first three rounds (YongPyong, Loudenville, and Leogang) but hasn't qualified at the last three. I had also forgotten that his best result was 7th at Leogang, which is awesome.

Would be great if our friendly neighborhood investigate reporters at VitalMTB could track down a comment or response from USA Cycling as to their choice of riders in that regard. Only reason I would think they'd pick Medcalf is if Gwin declined an invite via either a prior obligation or a new injury. And I mean zero insult to Evan. Sure he's a great kid. Roots & Rain doesn't WORK that way It gives credit to Medcalf for "beating" Gwin at La Thuile but it's using Q2 times (neither qualified) La Thuile: Gwin finished Q1 28th out of 116 (2 seconds off qualifying top 20) & had to go to Q2 Medcalf finished Q1 w/ 1 DNF (no splits registered) Gwin flatted & rolled in Q2 at 7 minutes Medcalf finished Q2 w/ a 3:38 ( 4 seconds off qualifying 30th) Both missed the cut.
