I'm as excited for new saint as anyone, but lately this is how I feel waiting for them at this point:

Respectfully, I disagree with your characterization of the Base brake's lever feel. I don't think there has ever been a brake in the history of the universe with a more on/off lever feel than the Maven Ultimate, and the thing I like most about the Base is that it keeps 90% of the power but makes the lever feel mushier in a good way. Lots more room to fine tune brake power using your finger on the Base, whereas the window to do that with the Ultimate feels like it occurs in roughly 0.04mm of lever movement.

We're 14 years in already. What makes you think the new Saint is going to be released?

The measured with the same, constant lever force. It is likely that at different lever forces the brakes behave differently compared to each other. So the test results and your real life experiences (where the finger force constantly varies) can both be true. Even more so when you factor in different brake pads, rotors, bleeds, etc.

Apologies if this is too far off topic, but Escape Collective just announced they're now cash-flow neutral (they've been running a deficit since they launched). Pretty impressive when you consider how much high-quality content they put out and and doubly so that it's funded entirely by member subscriptions.

The sarcastic Charlie response is that Markus continues to find new and creative ways to get his face in front of people's eyeballs. I would imagine the measured Jeff Brines response is that, nevertheless, here we are talking about Markus and YT again.

I can speak to clothing as I run a tiny MTB apparel brand, Abit Gear. The short story is that for USA brands, tariffs are making it a royal PITA and covid saw a glut of inventory that isn't yet cleared. Sure, margins are good on paper, but you have a SKU problem with apparel do to size and color variants, you have to carry a lot of aged inventory, and fight discounting from competitors more than with hard goods.
