Yeah, I remember that name getting thrown around when he was allegedly working on his own bike after YT. I think the trail bike he was riding around that time closely resembled a YT but was actually something of his own, likely a catalog frame of some sort.

I don't want to sound disrespectful, because I love the fact that company representatives from Schwalbe and other brands are active in our humble Vital forums, providing useful info and clarification. But with all due respect... DAMPING

Don't forget about the Cannibal. Tread pattern wise it's their closest to an Assegai but thrives more at higher speeds than the Assegai IMO. Unfortunately only available right now in the grid gravity casing. I really loved the Conti stuff but am fully on the Spesh train until they expand their casings/compounds offerings.

Thanks for linking that, some really interesting points and math I haven't seen before, for instance: On A Flat 100km Route (0% Gradient) Over 100km, the 1.44km/h drop in speed from the Rohloff to the Nuvinci will add 9 minutes and 30 seconds to your cycling time (4.9% slower). To put that into perspective, carrying 30kg (66lb) extra on your touring bike would add 5 minutes to your ride time (2.6% slower) on the same route. On A Hilly 100km Route (10km up, 10km down x5 @ 2% Gradient) Over 100km, the less efficient Pinion P1.18 adds 4 minutes and...

Rather than clutter the tech rumors thread let’s post here about our personal arm pump solutions. The fixes for me were cutting down my bars (740 trail/ about 765 dh) at 5 ft 9. Learning to focus on not death gripping on whole runs vs necessary sections/hits. And mostly moving to a larger diameter grip (sensus meaty paws). I had a lot of problems with hand pain till I made these changes. And generally unless I’m on a borrowed bike and forget to bring some grips I never really have a problem anymore.

I'd put more days in before you open the wallet. Early season park lapz will do that. The tendons will adjust as the season progresses

I haven’t watched the linked video yet, but I have to say; Who cares how fast it shifts? Having T type on an Ebike is beneficial because it knows where to put the chain at the right time. If you accidentally forget you’re in a high-power mode and ham-fist a shift, you’re not going to snap your chain or cassette or worse…

So when transmission dropped, all everyone could talk about was how fast the shifting was. Then, once the hype died down, truth started to leak out. https://youtu.be/hT4ysSz4UV8?si=CZ5TpLE707pRgAl1&t=1081 For instance, in the above video (link has timestamp) they were testing the climbing times of high powered ebikes (Rocky Mountain won, I love their approach to ebike motors). The Transmission equipped ebikes were slower because of the non-trivial delay in shifting. I' actually surprised that companies like e*13, OneUp, Garbaruk, etc haven't made a machined replacement for the top portion of traditional derailleurs to use the T-type mount, allowing for hanger-free Shimano...

I didn't read everything but have been around the sport long enough to have seen "this sort of thing" before. Few observations. 1) Our opinion really doesn't matter. 2) The riders are going to do what the riders want to do. 3) From a sponsor/event perspective, this works. Look how many comments this has drummed up between instagram, YouTube, Vital, PB etc. If awareness is the goal, they already won. 4) I think Evil Knievel stunts take away from the coolest part of the actual sport, but again, I'm a couch QB. Not the person out there riding. I think...

Old person here. Rampage is too groomed. It's so 'mid' now. 90ft jumps are not the norm for pro's......not even the darkfest crew. I know some of the 'boyz'. Most of them are scared shitless. *You're The event is owned and run by RB. The diggers (some of the Dyfi crew) are contracted to build/maintain the course. Dh is a minority sport.....but that does'nt mean that there should be a high chance of death for a minor mistake. Both Bk's and Jims jumps could have gone very, very, very badly wrong. It's bike racing.....not Beyond Thunderdome (ask your Dad). I'm going back to my...

Ya Spomer, I'm honestly surprised Red Bull gave this jump/course change the green light. I've no idea how the decision making goes over there, but Red Bull are investing big money into this event each year and this is a weird direction
