Skunk Works Suspension Liked a reply to forum topic FOX Podium Inverted MTB Fork - Questions, Answers, Reviews
8/1/2025 3:32am People who routinely service forks have seen this from Fox for years now. Floating axle or not, Fox finds a way to make the fork bind. Not surprising it has carried on to the Podium. All the time and money spent developing an air spring with a "floating piston" only to have the chassis bind more than the air spring ever could, pretty sad.

8/1/2025 3:28am 1) I think you're at the exact peak of the Dunning Kruger graph here. 2) That was a hint to get this discussion out of this thread.

8/1/2025 3:21am Yeah, in a few interviews and podcasts they’ve hinted at a 12-round season, which would be awesome. Personally, I’d love to see it expand to around 14 rounds per year…that would really help build momentum throughout the season. But for that to happen, teams definitely need bigger budgets and more backing, ideally from sponsors outside the bike industry. It’s a big step, but necessary if the sport wants to grow on a global scale.

8/1/2025 3:19am Did a bit of Instagram investigation and it looks like Francesco Pardal is currently in South Korea, at Yongpyong Resort (or around that area) the same place that hosted the Winter Olympic Games. He’s there with a few other guys, and from the looks of it, they might be scouting for a new downhill trail. Could this be a new venue on the 2026 race calendar?

7/31/2025 7:57am Maybe they're just waiting out a respectable amount of time after his crash before cutting ties... unlike him with his ex-fiancee who stuck by him throughout that ordeal only to be cheated on.

7/28/2025 4:21pm To be clear, only offering a perspective. DH is still mostly the racer, not the bike. Marginal gains can be had from the bike itself in our sport at Nationals. In moto, a factory bike can wipe out any capacity for amateurs to compete at Lorettas. Not comparing apples to apples here. Closest comp in our sport, it's true, would be the suspension company components. Asa showing up to Nationals on full Fox Factory digitally tuned, telemetry tested & set suspension isn't as massive an advantage over his competition as a works engine from Star.

7/28/2025 4:20pm No. Not at all. They mediated. But they were forced by their own rule to enforce it. Deegan's went to the kids sponsors & got his main sponsor to threaten to take everything away from him that he'd worked for from the time he was little. All because Deegan's had unlimited resources.

7/28/2025 4:19pm Yeesh, had no idea. That’s what happens when you’re a future multi-million dollar media star at junior level. Thanks for the info.

7/28/2025 9:47am Wait what, hadn't heard of the Deegan Loretta story. Did they find anything about his bike? Or did the kid not end up buying his bike after the one on one with Brian?

7/28/2025 9:46am The AMA rule regarding not being able to race unless you offer a production version I'd love to see in more detail. Adam Carolli racing a stock production Ducati rather than a one off works model is kind of wild. Anyone remember the Deegan debacle at Loretta Lynn's? His dad was a total cheat when he won his only SX race. So rumors of Star Racing having a ridiculous amount of money in Danger Boy's bike stirred rumours. Kid used the amateur rule to blow his own career up by forcing the purchase of Deegan's bike on the spot. Resulted...

7/28/2025 9:41am It would be cool if there were 'homologation' frames- such that after a prototype grace period ends, Mondraker, Specialized, Norco could all release 10 frames. Unpolished products built for unapologetic speed, at unobtanium prices. SR Suntour did it with Pidcock's electronic suspension for 5k per set.

7/9/2025 3:41pm I've been noticing a lot of pedal kickback riding my trailbike equipped with a Pike Ultimate. I didn't know how to describe it besides "when the fork goes into compression I crash a lot more often." Who knew that the fork lowers were directly tied to the cassette? I know I didn't. But it explains all my crashes. THAT is probably why I'm crashing all the time, right? Right? Definitely not a skill issue.

7/4/2025 9:58am "2. Closing a feature to a single group of contestants alone is wrong. Build a course that is rideable for everyone! Also junior woman." Can't get behind this take. The difference in ability between elite men and junior women is massive. They should instead make a more interesting B-line than just a wooden ramp to the side, should make it more...

7/3/2025 12:34pm If two people can comfortable hit it and it comes with a huge time advantage it gets to the point that the entire field has to take massive risks to be competitive. The Jr's are just that, Jr's. They are not professionals and outside of a very select few I bet most are not getting a paycheck. Closing one feature will have zero effect on the racing for the weekend...... Having to chopper a rider or two off the course during practice will have a big effect on everyones race weekend.
