There are three guarantees in life: death, taxes, and the internet being absolutely certain that every new e-bike motor release is going to end in disaster. I like to think my view of the world is pretty empirical and observational. So with that in mind, can anyone point me to actual examples of trail closures caused by e-MTBs? We’ve obviously seen issues with SurRons, but my brief Google search and AI-assisted digging turned up basically nothing beyond trails being opened to e-bikes. I cannot find evidence of trail networks being closed to mountain bikes because e-MTB use has meaningfully increased...

Another Reflex XL user here, tried a bunch of thicker grips and these hit the sweet spot. Ergon GA2 Fat were the previous go to but the Reflex XL has a bit more cush. Used to run ESI Chunky but they pack out too fast and I experienced some palm bruising as they are soft enough where you can get to the bottom of the grip during some, ahem, chunky riding.

Forbidden Druid V2. It makes me happy every time I ride it and I'd pretty much ride it anywhere.

Mine was a full 29, since I wanted that for the trial bike. I have friends with them running the radials on the 29 and haven't really complained. I have them on my DH bike, but didn't feel like spending more for something that looked even too close for comfort. Probably would have caused the same amount of damage in the end. Triad to hope pro 5s, so not that flexy. And it isn't side to side flex. It is on the actual bridges that are getting scuffed up from shit getting in the tread then scraping through the very...

I refused to try the new radials on my druid. Hell, the 2.4 eliminator and whatever rocks, dirt, and sticks already did a number on the inside of my stays. Peeled off the ridewrap on both, which also made an annoying ticking until I could force it off with a stick mid-ride.

Things I loved this year: I'm not a gearhead, so my biking loves are pretty much about experiences: 1) YT and the YT Mill Bentonville crew: it was great until it wasn't. We had a lot of fun hanging out there, and it really felt like something special was happening all the time around the place. It wsa a pretty big bummer once rumors started flying of things going south. 2) The Monster Pro Downhill Series: being from Arkansas, I never thought we'd be traipsing coast to coast for DH races, but here we are... it was a great time...

Hope’s braking lineage is one of the longest-running and most recognizable in mountain biking. Their machined aluminum calipers and levers are unmistakably Hope, and for many riders, that’s the entire appeal: durability, serviceability, and a lever feel that’s hard to replicate elsewhere. But the XCR Pro E4 brake sits in an especially interesting corner of the lineup. It’s the brand’s lightest four-piston offering — a brake designed specifically to blend XC weight with real, trail power — and that makes it a natural match for the increasingly broad category often labeled “downcountry.” I mounted the XCR Pro E4s on...
