The answers you seek are in the text 😉but TL/DR: the gearbox is working, but not at the lever they want, so they will race the version equipped with a conventional derailleur here in Loudenvielle.

They said a lot but could have saved all that marketing talk and hooked my by simple saying, it'll arrive true out of the box. I can't be the only one that receives only wobbly disks?

Of course this is a completely over the top product for deep-pocketed enthusiasts only, nobody claims any different. It's way better looking than the Trust though, which was said to have some quirks in the way it worked as well.

The difference? Intend doesn't rely on selling these to keep the lights on. It's clearly not for you buddy.

Not bragging, but I just pre ordered the shock and fork. I've been eyeing Intend fork and shock for some time now. Having ran Push for the last 1.5 years, I am truly a fan of a good damper and know that some of this stuff is bonkers expensive, but its also ease of use and maintenance that is key. The fact that you can service a Push 9.1 fork and these Intend forks yourself with basic tools and they use off-the-shelf lubricants and seals makes it a bit more palatable. But nothing will escape the fact that this is...

is it just code for electrical tape over a logo like they did with sram cranks all those years? 😂

One problem with your conclusion. If air remains in the caliper, the bite point won't change the way they were experiencing it. Air in a caliper will result in a consistently softer feel with more lever throw until the air migrates up the system and (hopefully) into the reservoir. Then the brake will firm up, but it should not result in the near zero dead stroke that they were getting. That looks to be either a seal roll issue (pistons unable to retract fast enough so more fluid enters the system from the reservoir) or a port blocking issue where...

the Sram response to this is: once the brake is assembled before it reaches the customer it could take more than a year, therefore it does need that piston massage as it's been sitting for too long. that's what they told me when i asked that question

The piston massage takes less than a minute. Not sure why everyone is making a fuss just do it properly as per the manual and enjoy perfect brakes

Yeah, I wasn’t talking about servicing old brakes. My point was that extensive service was required on a set of brand-new brakes to get useful performance out of them, and I only brought that up in response to an assertion that SRAM was the only brake manufacturer whose brakes did not work perfectly out of the box. All brakes, in my experience, require a certain degree of fiddling on initial setup, and the Mavens seem in the middle of that spectrum to me, based on my experience with them.

This is definitely something that all brakes benefit from at some point, especially as they get a bit older. There's a lot of dirt and grime that can accumulate on the outside of the pistons, which can make them stick in the seals. Cleaning and pushing them in and out a few times should for sure be part of the minimum brake maintenance checklist if you want optimal performance.

Nice to see the nerds are out in force. Fun topic and data set to discuss, so thanks for that. I deal with these sorts of "basic" data sets and the questions that come with them regularly at the World Cups as that is a big part of my role as coach at the races. The general lack of rigour and understanding of causality, causation, error, trial-to-trial variability etc.. at the races and generally in the bike industry is pretty surprising. But sadly, strict materialist/reductionist/mechanistic philosophies dominate without any awareness of that domination for a lot of people I won't...

I just remember the first set of 165mm cranks I ever saw were Profiles on Pablo Tafoya's Yeti DH9 at Mt. Snow just after we banged through Yard Sale. I was so narrow minded I was like "that'll never work" & spent the rest of the weekend on my 175's whacking every rock known to man and thinking about the purchase as soon as I got home.

I encountered far too many adults that don’t know how to inflate a tire. Not sure how they managed to get through life not knowing but they did. Somehow this is a common problem in todays society.
