Maxxis are the undisputed kings of SKU-creep and the DHF has been racking up SKUs for decades. We'll all be on 36" wheels by the time they finally shift the last one. They still have the HR2 and the old Dissector listed on the international site.

I used to do this but stopped as that extra mm is critical for mounting tires on Flow EX3 and Reserve rims. The new Schwalbe Radials are not easy to mount either and basically require a Cush Core Bead Bro. (The previous gen radials weren’t bad though) I just check my spokes periodically and if ones broken, try to bend it around another or unscrew it from the nipple if I have my pliers. If all else fails I carry a Tubolito tube which is so small and light it could fit in your pocket. I don’t see them talked...

I love that you think gearboxes will become ubiquitous on ebikes and will entirely replace mechanical derailleurs and electronic battery-powered derailleurs and electronic hard-wired derailleurs and autoshift derailleurs and internally geared hubs, instead of becoming one more option among a confusing sea of options and pricepoints, like everything else in the bike industry. If only it were that simple.

You do a lot of brush clearing with your face? On the plus side lots of mounting points for handguards.

Not sure if this was discussed previously, but it looks like the XD Slim driver allows you to run a 157mm hub (and get the benefits of wider flanges) on a 148mm frame... https://www.oneupcomponents.com/products/rear-hub-157x12 Another nail in the coffin for 157mm rear ends.

What makes you say this? Listen to the latest podcast with Lief and Matt Beer... he talks about how he and Evan tested the Vanth before signing on and they love it. For Enduro racing the gearbox can clearly work. Lief and Hattie have proved it IMO. Its regular trail rides where the weekend warriors get all fussy about 97% efficiency and "at home repair".
