I can’t be the only one wondering where in the hell Mondraker is pulling all this money from, right? Opening a US based office and funding a factory DH race team and a satellite WC DH team during one of the lowest points the bike industry has been in. Over the last 5 years I can count on one hand how many Mondraker bikes I’ve seen in the flesh… are they much larger outside of ‘Murrica?

I had frustration with a Scott ransom- they put bushings at the trunninon shock mount and they kept getting wallowed out and developing play. Eventually found some replacements on McMaster that could be made to work with a file. like you have this awesome carbon super bike being let down by the only spot they chose bushings. Why they use bushings? Save 10g? Scott always does some weird stuff- when 99% of the design is awesome.

The one way I could see to run cables similar to headset routing without the drawbacks of going through the headset bearings would be to use oversized headset cups similar to those used for reach adjustment. Put the ports just behind the headset bearings but not through the headset. Routing wouldn't be any worse than "standard" internal routing, but the ports on the sides of the head / down tube could be eliminated.

From what I've gathered, BK's family has business ventures that pay more than MTB. Don't underestimate that if you come from a family that knows how to operate successful ventures, you hit the ground running much smoother. The resources he has access to in the background to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, handle advance planning, schedule adjustments & so much more I don't doubt help BK be more efficient than most teams that come & go. It doesn't hurt that while he has all the toys a guy could ask for, he doesn't seem to hesitate to get his hands dirty...

One thing he mentioned that stood out to me was how Discovery/ESO don't understand mountain biking. He mentioned it focused on Enduro but it applies to DH as well. That's how we end up with the lack of story telling / buildup of excitement throughout practice, qualifying, semis, and finals. It's also how we end up with drone shots from far away or shots that don't show the rider's lower body or bike, and cutting away from the rider mid run to show the team manager. Couldn't disagree more. Rented an aluminum ransom which was sublime on steep tech and jumped well, yet was extremely efficient when pedaling. Great frame, if owning I'd have dumped the scott lockout crap.

The look of the 2018-2023 Ransom Generation has always been the favorite for me. It's simple, and in review and test riding just works. If that's the new frame design I'd be quite sad because that is real ugly looking.
