1/22/2025 7:32am Something just seems a bit fishy about the Cast brand... I'm not buying into the picture of these top riders joining forces to come out with just this. :D

1/21/2025 4:38pm The news "leaked" almost a year ago but you can find comments that it happened well before then. Can't blame you for missing it though, OneUp seems intent on keeping it quiet so they can trick consumers into thinking they're just 29 nice guys up in Squamish and your money is all staying locally.

1/17/2025 10:16am I would agree with Sethimus, that generally whats ridden here maybe doesnt apply everywhere else. But I've lived in a few places in Europe, and generally its kind of "three phases" or three types of people. People that are somewhat new to the hobby ride a lot of YT/Canyon - Good marketing, and easy to order online, with good pricing. Then we have the "middle" phase, people often ride bikes from their local bike shop. So in that specific city, if it has a big Spesh dealer, SC dealer, Trek dealer etc - Thats what you see, and people continue...

1/16/2025 3:28am I recently got bit buying a new headset for my Megatower. I like to buy stuff used whenever I can, so I was buying an IS41/52 headset off a guy, taken out of a Yeti IIRC. Well, it shows up and the top headset bearing doesn't fit into my upper IS cup in my frame. Too big. I take out the headset and the side of the bearing says "41.8mm," but googling that headset size gets me nowhere. Turns out IS42 headsets actually measure 41.8mm in diameter, but apparently "41.8" is too confusing when there's already a 41mm size. So...

1/14/2025 1:28pm Kinda disheartening to see all kinds of crappy team politics creeping in MTB. It is not a team sport and access to World Cup should be based on individual performance. A simpler system would make more sense and be more fair. Let's have a couple of continent qualifiers open to everybody (and broadcasted as a wc by W
anybody in the top 20 got a ticket to race wc. Teams then organize themselves around whoever can race.. We are going to see the value of WC racing dilute itself through the years..

1/14/2025 1:11pm so the alternates are considered under a bunch of different criteria, that can be summarized as "cover for the UCI to choose who they want." We don't know for sure all the details of Gwin's team, but the way it looks right now, it's likely if his team is chosen, it's at the cost of another team that has more UCI points than his team has. So either Gwin races and somebody else deserving doesn't, or vice versa. and that's what the UCI wanted.

1/14/2025 12:39pm It straight up works. Why change it? Man bike riders are a fickle bunch, not happy when a good product doesn't get updated or revised, not happy when a part constantly changes.

1/14/2025 7:44am Phil losing sponsorship almost annoys me the most out of all of this. All the guy has to do is post a phone clip on a dodgy pleney loamer and I'm convinced to buy the bike. Brands will regret giving up large engagment numbers on social media just to save a few quid in the short term.

1/14/2025 12:31am It wouldn’t affect my buying decision. Here are some factors I consider when designing for a frame: IS head tubes have existed for about 20 years I’ve never seen a cracked one, whereas I have seen cracked press fit head tubes. This seems more important than angleset compatibility especially if I get to design the HT angle. This crack resistance is because with IS the highest stresses areas are recessed inboard from the head tube opening*, and there’s no press-fit-hoop-stress**. Both IS and ZS allow the down and top tubes to be further separated than EC; and the head tube...

1/13/2025 11:40am Phil Atwill and the Propain Positive team appear to have parted ways with Propain. Instagram is now labeled "Positive Crew". They're either up for grabs or stepping back from UCI level racing. Hopefully somebody gives them the steam for more World Cup racing, Phil has some of the most unique bike handling skills around.
