10/19/2025 7:51pm “I keep spending revenue from my existing companies to buy more companies, and I can’t figure out why my existing companies aren’t profitable yet.” 🤔 tough question. Maybe another round of editor and content creator layoffs will help Outside mag finally realize its hidden potential.

10/19/2025 4:19pm There is something really odd about the way the announcing style juxtaposes to the weight and gravity of what is happening. Yelling into microphones like overly excited 14 year old boys feels strange when its punctuated by silence of life changing crashes. I have tons of respect for the riders but I did not enjoy watching the little bit I watched this year. Ugh. Gnarly.

10/19/2025 8:40am Anyone else has some more leaks/pics or is it not kosher to ask and post about it? Did some hero save that (now set to private) review of the Offering video?

10/18/2025 10:35am Finally got hold of a set of GR4s after years on the Tech 4 V4. As with all things Hope the build quality is a work of art. First impressions: I bled the ‘old’ way without using the bleed port because I didn’t have the adapter for the funnel yet .Hopes new bleed video gives a few new steps which seem to work good. Lever is a touch heavier throw than the v4 but much shorter throw before bite due to the new cam design. It’s still very light. Extra hook on the lever is really nice, way more secure...

10/18/2025 10:29am If we compare your post to mine, I think it can be said that the dislikes came from your point about enduro not being relevant. If I had to guess I would say that enduro racing has become less relevant, but I feel that the core riding style of pedaling bikes up to the tops of DH tracks has never been more relevant. Maybe we can look at the downcountry trend as the advent of riding categories that transcend the racing categories that birthed them. The average rider’s average ride does not demand XC race machine, but we can get...

10/18/2025 10:19am I think its great because it's not just a suspension book, but a chassis book so even though thetes a sepatate chapter for each topic, he treats the whole vehicle as a system and how each part is influenced by the rest. Each part isn't just theory but there are examples and real world demonstrations of just about every topic (like fork offset and head angle/rake). He was personally modifying bikes 40-50 years ago to test the stuff mtb guys are debating these days and collecting actual data on it. The type of thing I liked is explaining the impact...

10/18/2025 10:18am Short answer: no. Yes, you can generally ride a firmer setup on a trail that you have memorized, versus one that you're riding blind, and as you get more comfortable you can ride faster and faster and ride a firmer and firmer setup. But no, because there's a natural limit to that approach. If "the firmest setup" was the fastest, then the fastest bike would be a rigid fork on a hardtail. Obviously that's not the case. Suspension does more than absorb mistakes, it also provides grip for turning, smoothes out chatter which increases rolling speed (i.e. reducing suspension loss)...

10/18/2025 10:17am Before I hit purchase, what's the quick sales pitch on the motorcycle chassis book and why I would want to read it as a mountain biker?

10/18/2025 10:17am If you are bracketing for speed using timing, and that is your priority, then yes that is likely where you will end up. However most people don’t bracket with timing for speed. They usually do it without a clock and base their decisions on subjective feel. Whether that feel is comfort or speed or agility is up to the rider’s requirements and preference

10/18/2025 10:16am Women's mountain biking is so lit right now. I hope the ladies are stoked with their riding and the show they put on because it was excellent. I was a little lost in the who is riding whose line storylines in the broadcast, which was a big story in this years event. Feels like the women got 10 years of progression in a single year. I feel like the judging and finishing order was pretty on point, or damn near close to it. Stoked to rewatch all of the runs with my wife again today, she was loving it.

10/18/2025 10:15am I gotta say, those ladies were sure killing it. Robin's run was incredible (and she did it again on her victory lap!), Cami's chute was crazy (and to do that twice!). Great runs by everyone, they all looked calculated and controlled. El Presidente drop is still insane.

10/18/2025 10:15am After a dramatic week of building and practicing, competition day rolled around for the women of Rampage. The original field of 12 riders had been reduced to 9 as the start list was published, but unfortunately Harriet Burbidge-Smith and Chelsea Kimball also went down late in the game with injuries so we were left with 7. The weather had been a challenge in the lead-up to the event, but conditions were picture perfect on competition day (and looking back on it, the rain sure helped the dig teams carve out some good looking lines). This was the second running of...

10/16/2025 10:05am Felt this was a fitting place to post my thoughts on running a Boxxer on a Spire. Spoiler Alert: Its the best setup I've run thus far. I genuinely don't understand why we don't see this more often, from ~160-170mm on up. Especially on e-bikes. I suppose price is part of it, but my real guess is what I'm going to call "mimesis"; we all broadly follow more than we lead. And breaking convention is hard.
