10/28/2025 1:35pm I thought it was very brave of Ebruner to be vulnerable and share how many bikes he and his wife have. It can be tough to come clean. We’re all active or recovering bikes addicts here, and this is supposed to be a supportive community for recovery. Or enabling rationalizations and fostering codependency, if that’s what you’re looking for. Both, really. JUDGEMENT FREE SPACE

10/28/2025 1:33pm Well the bad news is that I don't know what to tell you, and the good news is that I have nothing to prove, nor nothing to gain for convincing you. I have a lot of mountain bikes and so does my wife, 6 between us. Everyone of our bikes has sram brakes with metallic pads, 200mm hs2 rotors and the same sram drivetrains and sram dt350 hubs on every wheelset save one. There are two extra floater wheelsets between all of the bikes. I think it may actually be more important for me to be on the right tires...

10/28/2025 1:31pm I was on a 10 day riding trip in Iceland 2 years ago and this exact issue happened to a guy in our group. He had flown from Australia with his bike, and when we were at the headquarters of the guide company assembling our bikes(in the middle of nowhere) he realized there was an issue with his rear hub. A few of us tried to fix it in their shop but he was missing a piece in the hub. Fortunately, his bike was 148 and the guide company had a few rental bikes, also 148, and they were nice...

10/28/2025 1:31pm I have fought off having superboost rear wheels in my fleet for many years. My wife fell in love with a pivot recently and got herself one. It has ruined the zen status of all wheels/hubs fitting all bikes in my garage. It is as bad, if not worse then the dystopian axle future I imagined that had me avoiding pivot bikes for nearly a decade now. superboost sucks... after having a superboost bike forced on me, I can safely say, I will never own a superboost bike.

10/28/2025 1:30pm I don't even like playing the "Who has a 148 rear wheel I can borrow [with my preferred freehub interface and/or a cassette of similar size and # of speeds that's compatible with my chain]?" game. I don't think I would like the 157mm SuperBoost version of that game.

10/28/2025 1:30pm Dude, we know you don't like Vorsprung's distributor model, and without Vorsprung here to lay down their opinions its now sounding like someone screaming into the void. I'm sure Vorsrpung has fairly good reasons for why they wont sell to you, and why their website store allows you to select every country under the sun. My guess is that they set up a Shopify store with the basic settings and got on with their lives. Now can we get back to talking about the performance of various coil shocks.

10/27/2025 8:34pm Brother, its probably just a simple mistake - sure its a little confusing but its not like there isn't a clear and blindingly obvious pathway for you to purchase a shock if thats what you genuinely are trying to do. It's probably not been a major problem for anyone else, and there might be something in the backend that makes it a little harder to simply turn off - I know that is normally built in to the payment/shopping platform but don't run a webstore so not sure. There are sometimes products that don't have an obvious answer for how...

10/27/2025 8:32pm Alrighty.....so, for starters the Telum is a premium product that anyone who buys it will EXPECT nothing but perfect performance, reliability and support from the manufacturer and supplier. No one is creaming it in the bike industry, especially mechanics and things are normally priced in line with global recommended retails set by the manufacturer. If they tried to mark things up too far it won't last very long for them..... There are certain brands I sell which I invest thousands in tooling, parts and springs for and know every single part inside out, so if a rider has a problem...

10/25/2025 6:52pm It's a clever idea, but I take a little bit of issue with the claim of it being "the only air spring capable of duplicating a coil fork spring rate from the vary beginning to the end" when the Vorsprung Secus has been around for 5 years The secus needed to be outside the fork because of the limited air volume inside, so I guess the lower runt uses very low pressures and the negative coil spring is there to regain some kind of compliance after moving the piston upwards and reducing the negative spring volume. The positive chamber looks...

10/25/2025 6:05pm I just want to say I completely disagree with every single point. A simple down vote wasn't enough. Just because you can't fathom what drives others, doesn't give you the right to demean them.

10/25/2025 5:59pm No hate but I think this is a bit of an ignorant point of view. It is an extreme event we are debating so strong opinions on both sides are set to come out. I don't think a single one of those riders even considers fame or money when building their line. Their drivers are likely the rush of a complete run, the satisfaction of their line working, the high of adrenaline, their desire to push the sport and themselves and the goal of winning. There is not a single one who has an urge to mutilate themselves. Every rider...

10/25/2025 5:56pm That's competition. DH racers take risky lines knowing they are faster. If they don't take it, they risk losing time. Pressure, weighing risk/reward, and making those decisions is part of all competition. It is part of every sport, heck it is also part of daily life. Carson understood the risk/reward and made a decision not to pursue a second run. The risk wasn't worth it. Looked like Boggs did the same thing. That is part of the competition, just like at the races. Loic did the same thing at the World Cup Finals. These guys/gals are so incredibly calculated. There's...

10/25/2025 5:54pm I disagree. Rampage has been around longer than social media. These guys have been throwing themselves cliffs before social media was a thing, and still be throwing themselves off cliffs even if it hadn't become a thing. Injuries have always been a thing, whether they are small, significant or life altering, but the fact of the matter is there HAVEN'T been any deaths. How many other extreme (or less extreme) competitions can claim a zero fatality rate in 24 years of existence? I'm not saying things can't be made safer, but I'm also not sure what the answer is. If...

10/25/2025 5:39pm As one who had a 'career' in freeride and spent that career working to get into Rampage, I have a lot to say about Rampage, its evolution, and its current state. I will try to keep it short. The professionalization of Rampage over the last 25 years has made for a better event. Riders and builders are better paid. It has resulted in more coverage, more reward, and the ability to build a professional career around the event. Is it perfect? No. But it is pretty darn good. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Has it gotten safer for athletes...

10/25/2025 5:35pm i just wanted to say how much i appreciate the discussion you're all having about this, keeping it thoughtful and caring. whether you're for or against the level of risk, i think it's clear that everyone here cares about the riders first and foremost, and that makes me proud of this community. some care that the riders have the freedom to make their own choices, some care about protecting them from exploitation or going too far. regardless of outlooks, thank you for all the input and experiences and sharing. no matter what, i hope that all the injured riders make...

10/23/2025 1:12pm Start by finding the moment due to rider weight about the chainstay pivot on the front triangle. Since this is static, the sum of the moments about that point must be zero. This will allow you to find the reaction force at the seat stay. Remember since everything is pinned, the force can only be along the axis of that member. Similarly, you can then do a sum of moments about the upper link pivot on the front triangle to find the reaction force at the shock.
