More than merely "one of the two owners" (although there is a third owner; the son of the other founder and inventor of the drink owns a tiny percentage such that neither of the two founders owns a controlling stake), Dietrich Mateschitz was the impetus behind taking the drink to the west and turning it into the advertising and sponsorship company it is today. Everything you see associated with Red Bull is essentially down to him – the inventor being a silent partner. So thanks Dietrich for supporting many of the sports I enjoy watching, even if your drink is...

Martin Whiteley had proposed A and B races as a solution to having a smaller main event. B on Saturday, A on Sunday, and keep riders able bust into the A group, top 5 B racers race in A the following day.

"Who is to blame though, the shock manufacturers, or the bike manufacturers?" Yes. Trunnion was a team effort by the "we want a lower standover height on our trail bike with a vertically-oriented shock" crowd and the "if we don't make it, [insert "Fox" if you're Rockshox or "Rockshox" if you're Fox] will" crowd. Before trunnion, there were other bad solutions to this problem. Pre-trunnion, there was a spate of trail and enduro bikes with vertically-oriented shocks that were too short in stroke and over-leveraged in the suspension design as a way to reduce overall shock length and thus lower...

who is to blame though, the shock manufacturers, or the bike manufacturers for using these designs in the first place with inherent issues from the get go. Sort of a chicken and the egg scenario. EXT E-storia fixes everything.

I hope suspension isn't your job, because calling it a "dampener" makes you sound like a dildo.

Or the industry needs a rethink of how shocks get mounted... Trunnion frames have been a horror story on the shocks. Direct mounted yokes on Specialized bikes killed Monarch shocks (90° eyelet mounted yokes improve things). There has been word in this topic there's a reason a lot of Santa Cruz bikes come with RS shocks as Fox shocks supposedly can't handle the loads on them. Apparently the 27,5" Phoenix couldn't be run with a coil shock due to the frame flexing that much, requiring the support from an air shock to function. Etc. Either the shocks will need to...

Maxxis also supply there team riders with 2.5 DHR, so if they have the mould why not release them to the public?

Is this the second DH casing dual compound modern Maxxis ever? A few years ago only the DHF came in DH casing and dual compound... A severe lack of DH casing and DD casing dual compound tyres is completely baffling to me as they would make a great option for hard charging (heavy) riders that like to still pedal a lot. A 3C tyre in the rear usually gets chewed up mighty fast (DHR2s though surprisingly last quite a while even in 3C guise in the rear...).

If I was in the market to buy a bike it would definitely be an eBike but at this point this, I will not be buying another bike

I’m all for people having the options of the lighter ebikes. Tried the Levi SL and it was great fun. But then I like non-assisted bikes and full fat ebikes as well. If a full fat bike is too heavy and cumbersome you can just get stronger or get an SL.

Out of interest, why does an ebike ‘opinion’ cause you to get more sand in your vag than every other page of this thread having at least one opinion of the piece of tech being discussed? PS. Have a moto as well thanks. Much like an ebike, assume you’ve never swung a leg over one of you think it’s lazy & easy. PPS. Hope you actively call out every other ‘lazy’ version of a sport. Those pesky skiers who dare get a lift to the top. Have they never heard of hiking to earn their turns? Same goes for all...

Those bikes were terrible because mass was everywhere on the bike, geo was lethal and suspension was more like a floor pump than suspension. With the first gen Session 88 lads had bikes below 15kg and those weren't good as light bikes are twitchy. Having some weight in the right places (main frame, low) makes your bike ride much better in the gnar without much drawbacks, helps with stability, helps with suspension. The braking thing is vastly overblown it isn't worse than for a chap that is 7/8kg extra than you are, if you are normally sized it still remains...

Yeah, I mean you just have to watch the videos of the likes of Reece, Bernard & Brendan absolutely tearing the wheels of their ebikes to realise it’s definitely the big, heavy, cumbersome bike that’s really limiting their ability to ride & have fun. It’s 100% not the person on top, for sure. FWIW, having had full power ebikes, an SL Kenevo & back to full power they all have their place. I think the KSL is a great in between bike, for those who arn’f fit enough to hang with a bunch of fit riders, those who want to...

I got to try several eBike and never really found them cumbersome, if anything they tend to work even better than normal enduro bikes when pointed down chunky stuff and with proper geo those are absolute weapons from what I tried.

That would be Lapierre that invented the lightweight eBike, Spé came out after and so did all the others currently playing on that market. I still don't get this market and who is buying them tho. All my friends that ride eBikes want big motors and batteries to be able to do a lot more than on their bikes. Having one of these also cuts you from any sort of racing as they are too small to do a eBike Enduro race and are not allowed on normal enduro races. Lapierre take on it was actually interesting as it allowed...
