DustOnCrust Added a comment about feature First Ride: Specialized Butcher and Eliminator 2025

Bummer they've ditched T7 compound: Butcher T7 was a great, long-wearing rear-tire option for dry, rocky, & abrasive conditions (California & most of the Southwest). It rolled a lot better than a dual-compound DHR, and the knobs held up 3x as long as a Dissector. Guess I'm back in the hunt for something that will last longer than a month in the summer around here...

Same experience here with Eagle- alum front rings wear out much quicker than the rest of the system. Eagle XO chains last quite a bit longer than GX, and therefor worth the price bump for me. XO cassette? Unbelievable lifespan. I replaced one with over 5000 miles on it, because I thought it might give me a bit quicker shifting. The difference between the old one and the new one was negligible. Rear derailleurs- XO last longer than GX, but when GX is only like $110 to replace, I just put a freshie on every other season or so when...

I burn through GX Eagle deralleurs in one year due to the b-bolt interface wearing and creating slop. It's metal on metal, and moves/grinds while descending. X01s last much longer with an added bushing on the b-bolt. Solution is to buy an X01 b-bolt and swap it onto your GX derailleur for ~$30. Then keep that bolt for future derailleurs. Makes the GX every bit as durable as the X01. Even better is the Hall-lock mod to stop the derailleur from moving at all at the b-bolt pivot. Best way is to file a teensy bit off the X01 b-bolt...

My experience is that GX chains wear shockingly quickly and X01 chains wear shockingly slowly. GX mech and cassette are perfectly fine, shifter lasts indefinitely. GXP BB also seems to last really well in British weather. Works oval chainring wears quicker than anything else. Given what everyone is saying, perhaps I need to find someone that'll sell me a SRAM oval ring in the UK. I used an SLX mech for a while and it exploded thanks to a stick fairly early on. Given that's never happened on SRAM mechs, I'm tempted to things they're not as strong

From the story on MBR “BCF has bought all brand intellectual property for Nukeproof as well as all existing owned assets,” “Giving BCF the right to manufacture bikes from the existing range and innovate/ launch new Nukeproof models.” I wouldn't be surprised if the deal gives Fraser Group the distribution rights for the UK, maybe that's where talk of the future etc comes from.

The language makes it sound to me as though they bought it; how did you come the the conclusion it was a licencing agreement? They use the phrase acquisition, which is pretty black and white in my view.

TLDR up front: 0.5% on Eagle = smoked rings and cogs that are now mated for life with that old chain for as long as it lasts. Here's the full scoop: the reason you smoked your chainring prematurely is not * just* because higher-end Eagle chains are so much more durable that other options: it is because SRAM never informed...

Congrats on the big team contract, and holy cow, that’s crazy fast progression as an athlete! What was he doing before picking up a DH bike in 2023? Because there must be some sort of athletic experience and crossover skills at play here. I don't imagine he was just at home playing video games before he picked up a DH bike in 2023.

Not much info out there on the kid. At first glance, looks like he showed up in 2023 and started winning Urban DHs at age of 19. Claiming that he never "owned" a DH bike 'till '23 sounds like Intense is playing word games, so I deathscrolled his Insta & found that yes, they're fiddling w/ semantics. Instagram shows him sponsored by Spec in 2022 racing Demos on dirt and a single crown Status in Enduro and Urban races. His feed starts w/ him riding a Giant Glory on a DH track in 2021. Yes he's young & crazy talented...

I'll stick to Horst link. Gotta take a loan out to do a full bearing job on that 😅 Very cool stuff though. I saw their belt drive stuff when the Gates guys were out at Outerbike Crested Butte earlier this year.

Funny timing. This Sram patent that describes a Universal Brake Mount... posted on the Tech Rumors thread. Funny how we just touched on the issue with flexy brake mounts making brakes feel bad, this is one way to alleviate that problem. Neat.
