I don’t know if I buy this argument, I don’t think the evidence would support your characterization. And just so you know where I’m coming from, I don’t have an e-bike. I do ride my road bike about 15-20 hours per week, mostly all super easy endurance volume that supplements my mountain biking. I do lots of intervals and am generally in such good shape that I won’t ever need to buy an e bike and have no desire to. My thoughts on the issue you’re raising: There’s no way people are getting *less healthy* riding e bikes. Even with...

It sounds like you're a great candidate for a mullet. I've ridden full 29 and mullet and I really don't believe there's a significant difference in speed, traction, or bump absorption between the two. They both work great. As a tall person with a ton of racing and product testing experience, I really couldn't care less if my bike is mullet or 29er, as long as I have a spare rear wheel and tires available. BUT if you're short enough that a 29" rear wheel could get in the way of your body's range of motion on the bike, I'd...

Every bike is different and people have different experiences on them. "Playful" is different to everyone. I highly recommend demo'ing some bikes out there. I've read reviews and demo'd and had completely different experiences than the reviewer. Get a bike that is the most fun for what you want to get out of it. Races are such a small part of the overall ride time. I think a 29er vs MX would be negligible in a race personally. Most pros who do videos and test find its 1% difference from what I've seen. One thing that I think gets overlooked...

Agreed on the general consensus (I think) that Dale's Maven review was partially flawed as he cut hoses and installed without bleeding originally and didn't follow instructions. I'm not suggesting that he's totally wrong in his findings, but to be taken seriously as a reviewer you can't be cutting hoses and not bleeding brakes/not following manual instructions and planning to not start out using their system rotors. Yes, end customers will do all these incorrect things, but since when have reviewers done the product review doing things wrong because 'that's how the average person will do it'??

In Northern California theyre everywhere. More than regular bikes. A majority of them are people riding them that could/should be riding a normal bike. We see the often 50+ year which is cool. But it makes me think “JFC” seeing more 20-30 year olds on them. They are most definitely not using at a training tool going stupid fast on climbs and not breaking a sweat.

Just going to give my thoughts on the Maven lever hand fatigue topic. I am going off topic to rant on about Hope brakes but this will make sense if you make it to the end. For a start I have never used the Maven brakes. I have always loved and championed Code RSC brakes and never had an issue with them, until I tried a set of Hope Tech 4 V4 brakes. I have always liked Hope parts but previous Hope brakes have always been disappointing. I put a pair of V4’s onto my Nomad when I built it...

Thanks friend. I guess it was time to make an account after all, haha. To clarify a few things: - Yes, the title is abrasive, but I feel that I’ve justified that opinion in (too much) detail throughout the video. I’m not on YouTube to make money, considering I make less than C$4 RPM after tax. I also never pushed my resume/background in my video. - After I connected the rear brake, I cycled the pistons to probably 50% of what was recommended in the manual to ensure they were moving smoothly, which they were. I noticed minimal difference between...

By predictable I mean that the OTB line from your center of gravity to the front tire contact patch maintains the same slope as you brake, which doesn't force you to make last second position shifts to keep from overweighting the front end. I'm not saying that any of this really makes a bike unreadable. I've had bikes of every suspension design out there and I've managed. I ride over the bars and I like my fork stiff on any bike. A good rider will adapt to one or the other and just go about his business. All I'm saying...

The way he tested these is how 90% of consumers will use them. Grab bike from LBS or online shipping box... go ride without even as much as checking bolts. Most people aren't very mechanically inclined or don't have time/interest to think about this stuff. The question I have is will they eventually "break in" after a handful of hard rides even if the setup process was inevitably skipped (assuming that's the actual issue at hand).

He's not just some random YouTuber. He's a damn good rider and an engineer who's worked in the industry. I don't buy the double rotor thing as being responsible for the lever force. Sounds to me like that's to get all 4 pistons advanced evenly and to condition the piston seals. Hayes told me to do something similar with the pad spacer (insert spacer after installing pads, pull and hold lever for 15+ sec). Having done and not done this, it didn't change the lever force, just the brake power. Unevenly advancing pistons reduces power. The stiff lever pull design...

Pretty brutal review of the Mavens. I saw other reviews that mentioned the lever pull, but not to this extent.

TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic 2.4 tires for enduro

2/19/2024 6:46am
Just a heads up about tire sizing, because you seem to be dead set on getting a 2.4" tire. Not all 2.4" tires are the same size, and the best way to get a sense of the actual size of a tire is the ETRTO listing on the sidewall of the tire. For instance, the old 26" Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5" had an ETRTO listing of 58mm, but the new 29" Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5" has a ETRTO listing of 63mm. They're both ostensibly a 2.5" tire, but in reality one is 10% wider. Why? The 2.5" moniker is there...

The geometry is spot on. I also like the fully sealed bearings, the adjustability, the external cable routing and the fact that with 4.8 kg of weight, the frame is going to be near indestructible. Everything else, I'm not so keen on... Looks, weight, price, trunnion shock, insane amounts of progression, lack of UDH, etc.

Sram acting like they re-invented the wheel with their “transmission”-“shifting under load!” When Shimano has been doing it for years. Next bike I build up will be Shimano! Too hard to ignore the bang for your buck.

RAAW Madonna V3 looks like a good bike for the reasons posted above. It will probably last forever, not feel all that dated in a few years and be a good chassis to build on with all the extra bits they have to tweak stuff. I am 5'8" as well and have gone back and forth with this for about 3-4 years maybe longer. I'm still not sure if I am settled on which is better still. If I was going with a DH bike it would be MX for sure but with shorter travel bike I don't have as...
