10/2/2025 1:26pm I’m curious to see how this fits into the lineup with the Patrol. It seems like they have a lot of overlapping bikes in the 160-180mm space.

10/2/2025 1:26pm Transition is re-releasing a new Bottlerocket next Thursday, October 9th! They haven't sent over full details yet, but provided some history of the Rocket images. I'm pretty hyped they're bringing this bike back. #freerideissonotdead

10/2/2025 1:25pm Did the maths on all the current crop of e bike batteries. They're all within ~10% energy density wise. Everyone is using the same format of cells so I suspect the DJI battery is just longer and thinner. That gives it's own challenges from a weight on bike point of view.

9/11/2025 8:50pm Do any of you nerds have a theory on what happened with Loic’s fork on his world champs race run? He said he had a mechanical and lost all support from the front. In the video just before his crash, he bottoms it out a few times almost like he lost the spring or damper. But then looked fine after. Did those fancy electronics malfunction?

9/8/2025 8:24am I wonder how many people freaked out when Kaz said something to the effect of, "It's funny when people in the chat refer to Vital as the other site.. Like you can't say their name here.. We don't care if you visit more than one site. In fact, you should. Get another opinion before spending your money..." This was on the podcast within the last few weeks.

9/6/2025 10:13pm I would just interject that potentially, not all HBO system designs are appropriate for all consumers. I find the HBO system in a smashpot effective, but pretty easy to setup wrong, impacting fork performance. Some rebound systems in forks I think are a bit more idiot proof, Manitou's HBO setup works well with a pretty trick rebound check system, so it's minimizing it's impact on HSR when a suspension event is deep enough for it to come into play. The smashpot system has a VERY large impact on HSR. In addition, in it's stock shim configuration (qty 5), 90ml of...

9/6/2025 10:11pm I was about to say something similar. Honestly I'm split, On the one hand $20k for a bike is bonkers. On the other hand I understand why a company like Specialized wants to build a halo product. It's about brand image and also it makes the regular (non S-works) models seem like a better deal. An $8k bike (e or normal) looks much more reasonable sitting next to a $20k model.

9/2/2025 11:48am someone on the other site broke it down and you're right, there's about a $3k premium added on top of MSRP for everything part-out. wild

9/2/2025 11:48am Lol, people buying a $20,000 S-works (the most expensive mainstream bicycle on the market) are not worried about 'shady' markup behavior. A $150k Mercedees isn't anywhere near 6x the cost to manufacture than a Ford Focus. A ton more margin in higher-end products. And people who are buying those products know it.

8/15/2025 6:39am Finally! A proper electronic DH rear derailleur. I've been wondering when we'd be able to pay $1500 to ruin three derailleurs on the same rock in one race weekend. Can't come fast enough.

8/13/2025 9:03am true, Ryan is on Yeti Shimano and Richie on Yeti Fox. But, based on past race builds both have either fork at their disposal. So its still same bike, same course, different forks.
