I mean I like the general concept of YT. It's just awkward the guy who is 'saving' it now is also the guy who would have ultimately gotten it where it is now (in both good ways and bad). This is the one. 10 speed linkglide for the win. Dirt cheap & super durable. Plus the deore LG mech works with the 11/48 cassette, despite shimano saying 43t max, so a nice short cage, dont even need to use the clutch. The chain is the same as a normal 11 speed, nothing special.Cheap though & change at .5 wear. Personally I dont understand the need for expensive 12 speed electric foolishness on an emtb.

The aluminium vs carbon "premiumness" perception thing is funny considering Vitus went carbon only for the final generation of its trail and enduro bikes, but remained a solidly value oriented brand* before slipping into oblivion (through no fault of its own). I miss Vitus. *Even its high end products remained excellent value. The 2021 Sommet CRX launched at $6,300 while a Yeti SB150 T2 with the same groupset, suspension and wheels was $12,300, or $6,300 frame only. What!! They're killing off SLX and now mechanical XT? Those are two of the best groupsets out there. The best value drivetrain is SLX levers, calipers, derailleur, cassette, and chain, with XT shifter, with a DUB GX alloy crankset. Ubiquitous parts, great functionality, easily serviceable, and doesn't break the bank.

Yeah its been a good setup. Since you can't stand in it its mostly built to serve the purpose of gear storage (camping, cooking, clothing, bike related) and sleeping. Whenever we setup camp we basically spend all of our time outside of the vehicle cooking and hanging out, and being inside is kinda just for going to bed. Helps to avoid the money pitfalls of "vanlife" when you're not trying to recreate an apartment inside of a van.

When I worked at a bikepark we had a bike rack in the back of the awd express van for crew rides and test rides. It sounds like you also have that going, loading it tetris style so everything is spaced is a big plus, and just using simple towels or other things on stanchions or parts that may rub was the other big fix. We also ran a strap on longer trips to keep everything in place.
