This is great @PUSH Industries!!! I really enjoyed our conversation about hub designs, but my review was already at 6000 words and I had to make the tough call to leave a lot of this hub talk out of it. Stoked to see you wrote this up yourself, and I hope this info can help hub buyers and manufacturers going forward.

Front Hub configuration, style, and bearing size have little influence on the performance that you get out of a conventional or "right side up" MTB suspension fork. This is due to the fact that the lower legs are one-piece, connected by the lower leg fork brace. The same cannot be said for manufacturers of inverted MTB forks. With an inverted design, the hub ties the two lower legs together. The more robust the hub, the more robust the performance from the chassis and vice versa. Is it possible that we'll see a shift in front hub designs as Inverted forks...

It's actually dumber than that. To make the numbers work: "Front center" is measured from BB to front axle as you've depicted, but "rear center" is just used interchangeably with "chainstay length" and is the horizontal measurement from BB to rear axle.

I would be so much more keen to use DVO products if they moved away from the lime green ano and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

8,000+ km's on a Druid V1 and 2,000 km's on a Dreadnought V1, PNW based riding. Druid was the second XT build to land in Canada. It has had the main pivot and linkage bearings replaced twice, the bearings in rear triangle and main frame have been replaced once. Have gone through an OEM and NSB aluminum idler (on a SS one now). Also had to replace the bolt that connects the shock yolk/rate link together as it had worn enough to have play. The "crunch" zone between the seat tube/rear triangle causing gouging sucked until they offered a hunk...

I always strip and rebuild bikes and frames when they're new to make sure that everything has grease, anti-seize, and locktite where needed and the only bike where it was a waste of time was a Specialized because everything was already assembled well. My Raaw madonna was pretty good too but the main bearing lip seals had been damaged and needed replacing. The sealing on the Raaw is pretty good and the stock bearings lasted a couple years in most of the pivots except the main pivot that wore out in 6 months. The main pivot is sealed from the...

For a while, half the people I rode with were on one Forbidden model or another, and honestly, those frames have some of the worst QC and overall design execution I’ve seen in that price range. Unless it’s the bike’s very first ride, they creek like crazy, and the suspension pivot hardware is borderline laughable. A buddy of mine—who posts here pretty often—ended up getting his frame replaced under warranty after endless battles with headset creaking. Forbidden eventually admitted the carbon had ovalized. No, Specialized isn’t the most exotic brand out there, but I definitely wouldn’t put Forbidden anywhere near...

Gotta say, while not a huge specialized fan, there was a while there where i had to be like, don’t love em, but no denying they are doing good shit, but i think the stumpy and all their recent e-bikes have really missed the mark. I’m sure the new demo will be good, but that was developed back when all the good shit was being developed. Wonder if there were big changes over there, or they just missed.

What the hell is wrong with these companies? Both Stoll and DirtySixer think they can sell bikes without telling people the geometry. Is this just some kind of rug pull because they don't know what they're doing, and until Trek or Specialized or whoever comes out with a sorted 32inch bike they can trick people into being early adopters with the alure of new-new (be the first on your block!)? This is some fly by night nonsense.

https://www.performancetrends.com/PDFs/Ohlins-TTX-Shocks-Tech-Adjustmen… is a pretty good read that talks about using poppet valves in a TTX 40. I'm not an engineer, I don't play one on TV, but I do think that sometimes people on the Internet get wound up concerning the finer points of X vs Y. Everything has tradeoffs and various systems have benefits and limitations so at the end of the day a poor/limited implementation of a system that contains X or Y may not address or overcome those limitations. The flip side of that coin is the limitations may not matter much or be noticeable in the...

just to clear it up, JKW killed his first podium due to user error, loading 2 bikes on a rack such that the pedal of one was rubbing the podium stanchion. It sounds like the replacement one is also leaking now, thus he's back on a Z1 for the time being. fwiw, my podium hasn't had any issues with oil leakage, though I'm certainly not beating on it to the extent he is. On pricing for lower legs, idk how available those are retail yet but msrp from Fox is 263$ a leg for factory and 210$ for performance. It's...

I'm confused by this comment: "I simply find a shim stack base valve configuration superior to a spring loaded valve system for it's potential to be tuned and adjusted." My confusion just comes from the fact that spring loaded base valve systems can also be tuned and adjusted. As an example, our ELEVENSIX shock uses a different tune in each of the base valves. The tune for Valve 1, which is the Silver high speed dial, is different from the base valve tune in Valve 2, which is designated by the Black high speed dial. So, if you set both...

So impressed with mine for a "budget" option. The range of adjustability is great and the performance is right on par (maybe better?) than the Avalanche'd DHX it replaced. When I asked Craig what he thought of it, he told me it was basically a "Bomber on steroids" and this seems to track. Hard not to imagine using it on future builds rather than buying a Bomber and sending it off and waiting and everything that goes into that.

FWIW nearly every single dropper post offering both 30.9 and 31.6 models use identical internals, including bushings, in both models. I don't think there's an appreciable difference between the two. There's a valid argument with 34.9 but at the same time, now that droppers are mature enough, I'm not sure most people are actually experiencing the issues with 30.9/31.6 posts that 34.9 was meant to solve. Companies are just too good at making em' these days. A 30.9 post fits everything modern with various shims.

The CEO topic is an interesting one. The official annual financial reports of 2021 and 2022, which can be found on the governmental website you linked above, were officially signed off by Markus Floßmann as "Geschäftsführer". The link where you can find the reports is actually this one: https://www.bundesanzeiger.de/pub/de/start?2 Then search for "YT Industries GmbH" You can then view the official annual reports. "Geschäftsführer" is the German term for CEO. So it appears, he has been CEO of YT Industries GmbH all along. There are no later reports than 2022 - at least none that I could find. But the...
