The press release makes it pretty clear the deal was done with the founders. Ardian Expansion will invest in YT together with the company founders Markus Flossmann and Jacob Fatih - alongside the management team. The management team, led by former Amazon manager Sam Nicols who joined the company in 2020, and the founder and CVO Markus Flossmann, supported by Jacob Fatih’s business incubator Crealize, will focus on building out the company’s product portfolio, whilst simultaneously bringing YT’s brand and customer experience to the next level. https://www.ardian.com/press-releases/leading-mountain-bike-brand-yt-in… I have zero knowledge about any of this, but my guess is the...

All true. Unless the frivolous spending occurred AFTER the PE buyout and was funded by cash from said buyout. That makes it all good if you ask me. That would make it church and state. Does it look good? Not really. Does the fact the Porsche article showcasing a mansion and two of the most sought after hypercars came out a month and a half before the company entered administration make it look any better? On the contrary. What I'm trying to say is that there is a reasonable chain of events that makes it possible this was not company...

I find it very ironical and super hypocritical for somebody like the YT main guy to whine about ”discount wars”, when they basically were the ones who brought this aggressive pricing strategy to the market. Dude, are you for real??? I honestly hope everybody will be OK after this, but I can't remember all the direct-to-consumer brands being too sympathetic towards the bike shops who, at the end of the day, stay at the core of our sport. And the problem is that people really believe that they are entitled to that discounted ”high end bike” with top parts, even...

Paper products from Germany can only mean one thing, new fork day! This is the Intend Flash 35, it can be run from 160mm to 190mm. Very similar to the Edge; but with a more robust crown, longer legs, and slightly different uppers. After initial riding and then a full tear down and inspection, there will be some parallel testing with a 35mm Boxxer. Both forks will be run at 190mm of travel on a DH bike. The capability of the 170mm inverted forks at Angel Fire was so impressive that a direct comparison of a longer travel version to...

The PUSH Industries Nine. One Specifications 150mm-170mm travel (10mm steps), 36mm stanchions, bushing overlap 145mm, coil sprung, 15mm floating axle, pneumatic bottom out control, weight 2960g, Chassis The 9.1 crown is large with massive overlap on the 44.5mm aluminum upper legs which are bonded in. Specialized developed a fully bonded alloy crown/stanchion system for the E160 fork around 2010 while I was a member of the engineering group. It is a great alternative to the traditional press fit assembly method for a fork CSU, and in some ways superior. The moto inspiration for the 9.1 design is apparent, the fork lugs...

Get it. The air spring is fine and so is the damper. I have no desire to replace either and I am coming off a $$$ Avalanche damper in a new 2023 36 chassis. I may tinker with the damper for the sake of adding moar shimz eventually, but the Essential just rides great in the factory configuration out of the box. And on top, you get some plush German TP as a bonus!

Heavy lever pull is bad. Heavy lever pull as a consequence of a progressive leverage ratio that gives a lot of pad retract AND a lot of power is a good thing. You can't have everything... As for variable leverage ratio (lever feel), Lewis actually does this...

The Intend Edge (Originals Edition) The folks at Intend have a sense of humor, and the fork actually shipped with a roll of genuine German TP. Truly reusable packing material. Specifications (A full spec chart is on the first post of this thread, it will be updated as new information is released) 150mm-180mm travel, 35mm stanchions, bushing overlap 160mm, air spring, 15mm axle, weight 2210g, Chassis Aluminum uppers that taper from an OD of 44.5mm to 42.5mm just below the Intend logo, large hollow aluminum crown, heavy duty steerer tube with a 2.75mm wall thickness (a typical fork steerer is...

so I did a good bit of manual URL scouring on the fox service site in the days I was waiting for mine to arrive, but didn't find anything more than the user manual. Once it showed up I just gave fox a call and asked them about manuals, they said there aren't going to be full service manuals for likely 3-6 months. Their reasoning was any time they release a new product like this, they want to be doing any immediate work needed themselves, so that they can know if anything is going on with the forks. I understand...

I thought it was interesting that neither Slaw or Richie ran the Podium (and ended up 1st/2nd) this last weekend, considering what the course conditions looked to be. Lots of traverses over shitty off-camber roots, tight & steep French turns, etc. Basically conditions where you'd expect the Podium to shine, but they ran the 38 instead. In the photos, I saw two Yeti junior racers who had it on but all the other Fox athletes ran the 38.

Not much to ass to the topic, but from my time in the industry A) Big bike companies ABSOLUTELY have the money to service 20 forks nicely for a launch. I wasn't at Fox but where I was we definitely made sure anything going to some media event was mint. Cool Fox's recent issues definitely haven't been about frame alignment. About half the new X2s came aerated from the factory. Not even gonna get into the 38. I actually believe one of the motivations behind the podium is solving the creaking CSU on the 38.

I think we're missing the more interesting question, which is how much of a difference, if any, minor alignment issues make when actually riding the bike. If we're going to rightly excuse a lot of shock issues due to misaligned frames, it's a little strange to assume mass produced forks are all perfectly aligned. I don't pay a ton of attention to Diaz's content, but I've talked to him before and I didn't get the pushy, everything-is-crap vibe. Doing back-to-back testing with a pre and post Diaz-aligned fork would be tough for obvious reasons, but I'd love to see Vital...

I've taken apart my new on two new bikes, 36 and 38, the 38 was fine, sensible for what i would expect for mass production. the 36 however was easily a token worth ontop of the air spring and a chunk under it. -ive not experienced a Fork from any brand with no oil yet, low yes but not none. 10 years? I've serviced many forks now and ALOT of fox forks have been absolutely packed, Either you see very little new forks or a liar to protect industry connection.(not a personal dig or anything as I have not dealt...

First off, I don't think each fork has been taken apart by Jordi personally and sprinkled with fairy dust or anything, but the idea that they would spend all that money on a press camp and then just give the reviewers production line fresh, never checked forks seems wild to me. I'm not suggesting in any way that 1 in 20 forks has issues, but I bet 1 in 200 isn't the best example of the girls and not one that they would want in the hands of the reviewers. You think they are willing to take the 1 in...

Maybe it's different in other places, but none of the shops around here drop the lowers, clean excess grease off, check oil levels, and do a simple push test at 0psi on every fork they sell. I've never heard of them doing that even on forks that come on complete bikes. At most they're going to take down rider weight / skill and set it up according to the chart's baseline settings and bounce up and down on it in the parking lot. And you definitely don't get that from online retailers, which probably account for most of the retail...

Here’s a follow up with no cuts or edits. You can see the moment the alignment falls apart. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLats-VBq-e/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== I agree most (all) of these guys have attitude and ego problems, but I think specifically what Diaz is calling out here is of value. Even if it doesn’t reflect Fox’s quality control at all (though I think people are right to be skeptical after the last few years), people will throw money at damper upgrades and burnished bushings when the root cause can be much more simple and less obvious.

Fox or whatever brand it is, IMO if the fork is new in a box with uncut steerer, you want it to work properly considering the rather large cost. I get what he's saying I've bough several new aftermarket fox and rockshocks forks over the years and it can be a lucky dip. Been bike nerds, we know alignment, bushing tolerance and lubrication is key to a forks ability to operate correctly. For every one of us nerds, there are 9 other average joe people who ride a sub-par product and ending up dropping 10psi at a time wondering why...
