5/21/2021 2:56pm This is all super interesting and very good goss for a saturday. Doubt it's financial but one never knows, and I agree that darkfest is the best covered or most content-ed of the series. It's a shame they called Sam out by name and made this post with little attempt to disguise the pettiness. There are just waaaaay better ways of parting ways than the holier-than-thou route, especially among former homies. That said I might as well be the paparazzi because I would also like to know more details lol.

5/21/2021 2:56pm The only thing that I can think of is Sam's build videos on his YouTube channel. Are they concerned that he's making too much off of those? Frankly, I'm often disappointed with the coverage of other Fest Series events. They show up out of nowhere, give a lackluster amount of coverage and then are gone.

5/9/2021 1:20am What if some of this is fake hysteria to drive sales, feed the beast, keep the fire on, etc etc etc? Not saying supply/demand issues are not real, but, I feel like one persons 250 lead time becomes 300, then 400, etc....just in rumor mill. Also, the forecasting/demand planning people in manufacturing are using the last 12 months as the barometer when we have to expect demand to cool down sooner than later?

4/28/2021 11:16pm Chapeau! In this MTB world where "parts can be any color, as long as it's black," you opting to go silver is huge breath of fresh air. Very well done.

4/28/2021 10:57pm think WRC, that’s not live last time I watched. Discovery, Inc will provide the existing EWS team with the backing they need to begin the journey towards live production... So extended highlights this year, maybe they will have a final show special stage next year that will be covered like DH after a weekend round up is my guess.

Varaxis Liked a reply to forum topic BB-height, cornering and why mullet bikes might turn better.
4/24/2021 10:15am Long wheelbase bikes need a taller BB for another reason - to gain ground clearance due to bigger stuff being able to fit between the F and R wheels. For example, if you go slow off of a rock roller or a rooty ledge, the edge of the rock/root can contact the crank/chainring before the rear wheel can come into play. The Grim Donut had this prob. I believe cornering depends more on F and R weight distro. People like to think that having more weight on the front is a good thing, but I disagree. There is a very...

4/24/2021 10:12am I've got a Guerrilla Gravity Megatrail set up as a mullet ("MegaSmash"), which has a flip chip option that slackens the angles by about half degree and drops the BB by about 5mm, and but also changes the leverage curve <5% (more progressive in high). I like the feel of the lower BB mode better (it feels super planted when pushing into berms), but the half degree slacker head angle slows down steering a bit, and the increased progressivity in high feels more poppy. I've tried both modes extensively and have decided I like the high mode better. The point...

4/14/2021 1:36am Was anyone really asking for a buttcrack pocket for phones? That seems like a place to put your phone only if you want to break it... Also, do you really want to put your phone next to your face or even touch it at all after it spent a long day of riding and sweating in that that area?

2/15/2021 10:58am Nice, I love the "build it but don't build it but if you do build it do it in a way that maybe it will get ignored long enough to eventually become legal" approach. As a land manager, I can neither endorse nor disavow this tactic. Edit: But I will fully endorse not leaving a big, steamy pile all over other people's hard work, whether that hard work is a well-built trail or a successful partnership. Just be cool honey bunny.

2/8/2021 7:24pm Short-sleeve rain jacket? Lamest.Pitch.Ever. In 40 years of competitive cycling on 3 continents between 0-110F, I have never once wished my rain jacket did not have sleeves. Wind vest if you need to keep the core warm. Rain jacket w/ sleeves if you need to keep dry, basta.

1/11/2021 11:51pm GEARBOX NERD BATTLE!!! Thanks for reading and thanks for the counterpoint. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ceramicspeed's driveshaft uses constantly meshing gears. In fact, it uses two different sets of constantly meshing gears, one at the hub and one at the crank. Ceramicspeed claims 99% efficiency for their driveshaft, which would be phenomenal if true, but as you stated the whole system is exposed to the elements, it isn't compatible with a full-suspension rear triangle, and on top of that Ceramicspeed has historically had a questionable relationship with statistics and the truth. If you have some evidence for a...

1/11/2021 11:01am More shilling for eMoped industry. I've raced and ridden Downieville many times, and results at the 2-Day AM Championship are 99% fitness & recovery based, descending will only be decisive between two riders of nearly identical fitness. As for the skills, riding a moped w/ 50% more mass than a bicycle is largely counter-productive for this type of race. The Downieville AM is an exercise in riding the most efficient, lightest setup you can still ride downhill at race speed without blowing it up. Riding an eMoped with tires reinforced to withstand the torque and mass of a motor is...

1/11/2021 10:45am Author is *not* training for DH. The Downieville Classic is two short marathon races, best suited to a weight-optimized, short-travel trail bike and won or lost on the climbs. Riding an eBike will have next to nothing to do with racing that course.

12/8/2020 12:24pm Wc riders are pretty good at figuring out what works and doesn’t on a bike. As reach got longer and suspension got better front ends got shorter. Guys are riding with very central positions and basically moving bike under them as opposed to getting off the back and using their legs and arms to drive bike into ground and keep a bit of traction. (Obviously they are still doing this but it’s more like piloting these days then jockeying a iron horse.). There are definitely guys who prefer a setup and feel somewhat closer to what they started on rather...
