Jacks announcement took a few of us by surprise last night. It's sad that one of the best riders in the world, arguably the most charismatic too is unable to secure a ride for next year and in some ways, coerced into retirement. I hope he finds a role somewhere, he would be a fantastic "face" of a company. The content would be top level. Jack is majorly responsible for MTB in Australia spreading so far, his influence on youngsters and his personal approach to grassroots racing that I have seen first hand is commendable. He truly is one of...

Made some progress with the Hayes Dominion excessive dead throw issue! For anyone with who's interested, here's the fix : 1. Remove the lever - two torx screws top and bottom, then wiggle it out. 2. Loosen the small grub screw (green arrow). 3. Tighten the ball-head screw as far as you can without it rubbing (red arrow) 4. Tighten the grub screw again and reinstall. Doing this reduced the dead throw in the lever by 12mm. Still slightly more throw than my Codes, but massively improved. I suspect mine were set up wrong from the factory and the ball-head...

I don’t have my computer on my so I can’t dig up the numbers you’re talking about right away. I’ll gladly share them when I get a chance though. The reason they aren’t listed is because the change is imperceptible. Anti squat and anti rise largely dependent on axle path/IC and it’s hard to really change that without changing more suspension members or moving frame pivot points. There is a bit of a tendency for people to hyper focus on numbers in a way I don’t believe is healthy. For example some links might make the axle path 1-2mm more...

This my first post as a member. I haven't riden a bike much in the last 30 years. My experience comes from a fair amount of motorcycle street and track and motocross. Im building what I believe is a badass hardtail and my preference is downhillish single track and some smaller features and no stones. That being said....I cant afford to get hurt and I hope people dont laugh at me or think Im over reacting when most of the time I will be wearing an Alpinestars Bionic Action V2, more in line with motocross but this thing ticks off...

Speaking of Mondraker, Dak and possible open spots in their roster - any word on Greg Williamson? Thought he got the seat when Dak was injured but he rode the whole season i think.

Enduro junior women world champion Nežka Lipnik said she didn't receive any offers for next season even though she won every international race she entered by quite some margin... Apparently she is also waiting for a downhill bike. Sourced from here Nežka Libnik tudi v 2026 v domačem klubu, a na novem kolesu - mtb.si - mountain bike Slovenija

Not the main team, but I saw yesterday that they're offering support to Arleigh Kemp, a young Canadian (not yet a junior?) woman.

1. Raaw Madonna V3 — A bike about which I think, every time I get on it, "This bike is perfect." 2. Sram Maven Ultimates — I don't mind the progressive lever feel and the bases aren't silver. 3. Randolph, VT — shh. 4. Building wheels — Found my groove this year. At about an hour from pile of parts to finished wheel and haven't had to true one yet. 5. Cable-actuated drivetrains — Call me a retro grouch, but pushing a button does nothing for the soul compared to actuating a lever.

1) bike demos. Honestly shout out to every brand going out of their way to do proper demo days IN DIRT. ya its cool to check sizing in a warehouse parking lot. but putting the resources into a proper demo day at a bike park or through a shop with a nearby trail system is worth its weight in gold. And it's the ONLY way I learned more about mountain bikes as somebody who can barely afford this hobby 2) mullet set up. Finally bought one this year. After trying a 29er, which was ok, and having a touch of...

2025 was an all time year. Some stand-outs: 1. RAAW Madonna - what a bike. Fast, composed, jumps fantastic and reliable. 2. Vorsprung Telum - expensive, but so good. I'm 260lbs and have been hitting bigger drops and jumps than ever and it's stayed calm and composed without asking questions. Having a custom tune from the start helps, but having the support from Vorsprung with any questions is also stellar. 3. Profile Elite Hubs - this was my second season on them. They might be some of the loudest hubs out there (which is why I got them). They're expensive...

The math and physics tell one side of the story, but I don't think it's the whole picture. The CE drop test involves dropping a 5kg PLATE on a 10cm diameter hemispherical ANVIL, both are metal. Picture the the violence of that impact - sure it's "only" 50 joules, but to measure the actual impact you also have to take into consideration the path of deceleration, which is very short in this case. Would you put a finger on the anvil, under that knee pad and then drop the plate onto it? No thanks! In the case of the plate...
