From the horses mouth (aka one of the Shimano category leads at the XTR launch in Tucson, I think it was Nick), “there will always be a place for cable XT drivetrains.” So I think you’re good for the foreseeable future.

Well I think the idea is that we would retire the tech and innovations forum after 1000. You old guys can walk these green-ish pastures and comment how you remember when tubeless came out. Or how crazy the idea of 27.5 was when it was released. You retire, your home retires with you Smile Us young bucks can start a new forum. So yall can sleep well. /s (Im never leaving)

This. The last three iterations of their team have all been super cool only to be axed right as they’re starting to build momentum. It wouldn’t surprise me if Joe Breeden is shopping around. He’s definitely taken on Gwin’s philosophy of being worth more to smaller brands.

Or, Joe Breeden. However, he and his team seem very happy with Intense. Kerr is with Pivot for as long as he wants.

My riding friend has some really cool Smith ones that I've been jealous of for a while but I just wear my prescription glasses! I do need new lenses though as I ruined mine during a Wales trip. I've been meaning to get prescription inserts for my goggles too but they're all pretty expensive.

Donated and you all should too. It’s the least we can do having watched the event free for many years. Regardless how insurance policies and sponsors pay out (they F-ing need to) the costs will be astronomical. For those who haven’t been to the website fundraising goal is 500k. Monster’s 2024 net income was 1.509 billion, a sufficient donation on their side is a rounding error. Godspeed to Adolf, Emil, Casey, and Aiden. Same as after Paul Bas’ injury, I hope the event will be shut down indefinitely

The sad thing is... we all knew "THIS" was eventually going to happen, or even worse, a rider dying. It was just a matter of when, NOT if. Plenty of professional extreme sports athletes have paid the price with injuries and/or death. We all know the consequences of our sport. Some of us may treat those "consequences" as the pink elephant in the room, ignoring them and some of us use it to slow down. We all remember the day we fell in love with this sport. We do it for that "feeling". As for Mr. Silva, let's pray that...

Just make sure you do actually pay for it, because if you can't pay... they'll take it away.

The wiffer is only in the air spring. Cone valves are in the damper. Maybe chasing the same performance or ride feel. Yes very similar to ramp control, but used for fairly different reasons

Hey look what I found in the parts bin: This was one of the last things I worked on at RS before I left... goal was to control big hits by weakening or slowing down the return of the air spring. I run my setup with a lot of spring and no damping, so getting bucked on big hits is part of the deal. This thing 'gulps' all the air in the positive chamber on compression and lets it out with a tiny delay (since it all has to go through the tiny hole to get out). No delay on...

This is crazy. Who do you know that has spare 157 wheels laying around? Shops don’t rent wheels. They barely rent bikes anymore.
