12/7/2024 1:50pm surely i cant be the only one who hates the fox neo dropper design, ie the system being at the mid cap assembly, it looks so out of place and odd. We buy all these nice clean looking bikes then a huge bulge 3/4 up a seat tube lol. I've been wanting a wireless dropper but not when they look like that lmao

12/7/2024 1:42pm Talking to a inside guy at my shop about the new Shimano Groups. Their will be Deore / SLX / XT / XTR Wireless Sets at the beginning of 2025. They are not like the Road Groups with a wire to Accu System. Cassettes will be 9-45 and 10-51. he said their will be NO new Saint Group! The Brake we all saw and thought it must be the new saints, will be the new XTR 4-Piston Brake.

12/7/2024 1:35pm I'm waiting for some actual tech rumors. Maybe a specific chat on product copying/sourcing/geo-cultural-politics

12/7/2024 1:32pm I think it's more the fact that if just cemented Lewis as a copy cat brand. Their only 2 products are ripoffs of extremely expensive high end western designs made by small companies which just doesn't feel good. Like what's next, they release a bike that looks exactly like a V10?

12/7/2024 1:02pm Wasn't the initial issue with Dale's Maven review the fact that multiple setup steps outlined in the instructions were skipped and the resulting review was very negative based precisely on the negative experience said instructions generally prevent? I.e. lack of RTFM leading to a negative experience causing a negative review?

12/7/2024 1:00pm The Hope T4 V4s are similar in feel IMO, although a bit less refined than the Maximas, the lever feel is similarly light. It's just a bulkier brake, uses DOT, and I find the bleed process to be kinda janky in 2024 but some get butthurt when I say that. You can run the lever closer to the bar with the V4s, the Maximas require a fair bit more lever throw to get power out of them. I also think the lever ergonomics of the Hopes is better, the Maxima lever tends to be a bit slippery and small feeling...

12/7/2024 12:58pm Loam Wolf? I'd disagree, even this "review" aside. They released a video maybe a year or two ago about how you should peel the wiper seal back on your fork and insert chain oil into it. You read that right, chain oil, into a suspension fork. They got called out in the IG comments for how dumb it was, several suspension shops commented saying the same thing, and LW repeatedly defended it, claiming DVO told them it was a good idea. Even the RockShox IG account was throwing shade at it in the comments and Loam Wolf continually argued it...

10/26/2024 1:59pm Million dollar idea: every frame comes with three headtubes welded in a neat row to the front of it. Users can play around with reach to their heart's content, then use an angle grinder to cut off whichever ones they don't end up using. Or save them all for resale value. Choose your own adventure.

10/19/2024 12:04pm Mechanically speaking, nothing is gained with a 15mm axle over a 20mm. What we gained by going with the (mechanically inferior) 15mm axle is the rapid and widespread adoption of thru-axles across all mountain bikes, then road bikes, then gravel and CX bikes. If the axle choices in 2012 (or whenever) were viewed as a binary choice between lightweight XC-oriented QR axles and a heavy DH-oriented 20mm thru axle, I think it would have taken a lot longer for product managers to go out on a limb and spec better forks and axles. 15mm axles gave product managers needed cover...

10/15/2024 11:15am One step at a time. First we need journalists in the industry that understand how bikes actually function, and understand their own biases. Most are a fucking joke (looking at you, everyone at pinkbike except Kaz).

10/15/2024 11:13am I'll also add, there's so much dogma in the bike industry, you can't do X because it has such bad Y...etc. We're not totally impervious to this thinking, but with this project we made it a point to actually test these assertions and sort fact from fiction. An example, from the start I felt we had to do a 20mm axle because everyone says so, it was Darren that commented how much it sucks to get a new fork and then realize your wheel doesn't work with it. So we tested and found the diameter has much less influence compared...

10/15/2024 11:13am I am in the engineering department at Push, and we're all big fans of the Vital community! - Matt I guess I should prefaced that manufacturing comment, before I get the "my buddy owns a casting shop and ..." 😂 So for starters there aren't many magnesium casting suppliers in the US (probably because of safety issues 🔥) but funny enough there is one just down the street from us. The problem with most US manufacturers is size, difficulty, volume, and capacity all have to align before they are interested in any new work. In my experience this is fundamentally...
