11/17/2021 7:32am The industry is charging more and more, whilst delivering less and less. Marketing teams are in overdrive to keep sales up and the money flowing in, I'd be intrigued what the warranty bill is as a result of reduced time to market on product development. Mandating longer warranties would force the OEM's to make a better quality product. -Robust frame -Properly sealed bearings with frame tolerancing as per the bearing suppliers manual -Components which are up to the job (creaky CSU's, ebike drivetrain, etc) A year into ownership of my G1 and the frame has been faultless, properly designed, tested...

That looked like a properly good time. Was thinking about how hard-earned Jack's bike skills are from riding an Ellsworth Dare at the World Cup level. Respect.

9/7/2020 11:56am Enough is enough when you think it is!
Up until recently I was on an XL Nicolai G1. I’m 193cm and the reach was 535mm, I told myself it was the right size and rode it hard for six months, but eventually some mates commented and some doubt was introduced. Hopped onto a Large with 515mm reach and way...

hurricanejoel Liked a product review Through the Wringer: Vital's Long-Term Test of Zipp's 3Zero Moto
12/19/2019 4:30am
Earlier this year we had the opportunity to spend some time aboard Zipp’s 3ZERO MOTO wheelset. While our initial impressions were mostly positive, we knew that a more thorough test was required to offer an educated opinion on whether or not Zipp’s claims of compliance and traction were marketing jargon or legitimate improvements over traditional wheelsets. Since our initial piece, our 3ZERO MOTO wheels have been used and abused throughout the Sea to Sky corridor of British Columbia and made the trip to World Championships at Monte Sainte Anne. They have put in miles on a short-travel Norco Fluid where...

AGR97 Added a reply to Is the 29 / 27.5 combo (97.5) bike here to stay?
4/4/2019 5:11pm Thought it was about time to throw my hat in the ring here. Been reading a lot of Porter’s thoughts on this and seeing Martin dominate inspired me to give it a go. Initial impressions below, more testing to follow: Ok here’s the thoughts, 29x2.4 Michelin Wild enduro measures in at 730mm diameter. 27.5x2.6 butcher is 710mm. Overall we’ve dropped...

JVO Liked a reply to forum topic How would you stop Richie from flatting?
8/17/2018 3:27pm In my opinion he also needs more travel. The bikes he has used have been a 140 and 150mm travel in back. For how fast and how strong he is I am surprised he is not having problems with other Eq. Would he be flatting with a 160-180mm travel? "Nomad" or another longer travel bike. Just a thought that has not been brought up.

8/17/2018 1:21pm I'm a moderately skilled weekend warrior mountain bike rider, and a highly skilled road course racing driver (Miata's) including some endurance races. I don't have much to add with regards to making adjustments to Richie Rude's riding because I just can't put as much energy into the bike/terrain as he can. What I can interject with is what i know from endurance racing. The best endurance racing drivers know how to extract 98-99% from the vehicles capabilities without putting the car at 99-100% of what it can stand mechanically. In the track world, we describe it as mechanical empathy. For...

8/8/2018 11:44am After watching a *very* well known (pro level) rider concuss the shit out of himself this weekend warming up in a little circle before a stage at a regional enduro race, I'll agree. Throw a damn helmet on. This particular rider's concussion may still have happened with one on (he took his off to warm up), but after how hard I saw him hit on something so innocuous, I'm going to side with the poster on this one!

8/8/2018 11:44am I'm always one for helmets at all times. Multiple concussions from mtb crashes with helmets on, multiple broken helmets, and getting car doored riding in the city has reaffirmed my decision time and time again. My close friend was in a coma for 5 days that lead to permanent brain injuries (almost blind but 2 eye surgeries later he has decent vision, and has permanently lost his sense of smell not to mention personality changes) after smashing his head skateboarding without a helmet. Grass ruts and young guns schralping looks like a ton of fun, and they absolutely slay it...

8/7/2018 11:15pm Guess you’ve all seen Vital’s story and recent posts from MSA from certain young rippers railing ruts. No doubt the riding is impressive but I absolutely hate the fact these guys don’t have helmets on. Argue about higher skill level all you want but sh*t happens, and then brain injuries happen. These athletes are meant to be role models, and...

i wish it was just NFG, but there'd be no RAW if we didn't play by the rules. however, lawlor has been granted full video access which means one vid per day can be longer than 3 mins. i think guys like ben and others are stuffed at 3 mins b/c they're at a lower level of access (which is a major bummer IMO). in croatia i thought we were stuck at 3 mins, too, but it was cleared up.
