I love how clean and not flashy that is.

Entire drivetrain industry scared that they already made the best mechanical components years ago and there is little room for improvement. Sandbagging the weight and material preserves the tier structure.

Hi, I´m guiding for Finale Freeride, surprise, surprise.. I recommend a guided Tour for the first day.(It´s "Full-Day", but maybe you can arrange it) The "Classic Tour" should give you an impression, what the range of trails is, you may expect. For the other day, you should book single lifts and combine long descents with them. They pick you up on several places.. just ask the office! So you can have up to 4-5 Trails with two lifts. What I can recommend the most... try to take more time! It´s one of the best areas in the world, and over...

If you can, take a look at the Pietra trails. Also Isallo Extasy or Fast and Furious to Revenant is a fun, long downhill.

I think there's a business case to be made for lower-cost park bikes now that many peoples' primary bikes are eMTBs. Back in the day, my cohort of friends had a trail bike and a DH bike. Later, I feel like it became an enduro bike and a lighter trail bike (aka downcountry). Now, I imagine a lot of mountain bikers' pairings will either be a park bike and an eMTB, or a XC bike and an eMTB.

I bet there's a link between the GoPro's decline and the soul crushing boredom of all the videos that our buddies made us watch.

The second response was clearly written by someone who's never ridden a set of brakes hard for months on end without tearing them down and deep cleaning/servicing them. In theory, yes... you shouldn't need to fiddle with contact point over the life of a set of pads. But in practice, slight variations in caliper alignment, piston advancement due to filth and micro tolerances, rotor straightness, etc. etc. all lead to a change in contact point feel.

Re: Size specific wheel sizes (relevant to current Megatower vs Nomad chatter) If every size is on a different wheel size aren’t those pretty much a different model of bike at that point? Won’t the S with 27.5r and 29f ride totally different than the XL with 29r and 32f even if it’s same frame/travel? I’ve played around with mullet and full 29 on multiple bikes and also overstroking/Cascade link to change rear travel and of those 2 I’d have to say changing the rear wheel size had a bigger noticeable effect on the overall riding experience.

I think one of the largest "We're not in Kansas anymore" moments I had when I began working for a component manufacturer after years in bikes shops was when I had the insignificance of aftermarket sales explained to me. Don't get me wrong, every brand worth their salt is going to support aftermarket product bc why leave money on the table, but OE sales are king in the bike industry and ultimately OE sales drives every design decision. SRAM gets to push the convenience of full SRAM spec by limiting cross compatibility. For brands like Canyon, Specialized, etc., who are...

I half wrote an essay before realising it was more of a rant; essentially I think the power wars risk breaking the social contract of responsible land use, where I live we have very small woods and they’re intensively used for recreation. The tacit agreement is that you’re allowed to do you there under your own power, no dirt bikes, no quads etc. If this is perceived to be broken because you can razz around on fire road climbs at 20mph then I reckon land managers will just ban bikes altogether because it would be too difficult to only ban...

AlternateTake: the simplest and most effective solution would be to strip away all governmental regulation, launch an influencer campaign to make riding without a helmet cool, and hope natural selection resolves things before we lose too much access.

Well, for a few glorious moments all high end bicycles had a 622 bead diameter over all disciplines. I know road bikes are hardly pioneers of innovation these days, but they've been settled on 622 (700c) for over 100 years. Gotta be something in that, surely?

If only someone made a linkage that allowed a longer shock to to be run on the Levo and it yielded 170 mm of travel. That would be wild.

Specialized has been able to this point to keep ebikes up to 10 years old going with new parts, and within usually pretty quick turnaround, so it is possible, but they're in charge of their own parts catalog for that stuff and not many others are. Hoping this becomes the standard.

My 2c - Clip E bikes, drop UCI sanctioning, take it to more interesting locations like the golden era & make the coverage part race review part destination / travel show. This would also allow you to pull tourism money from local governments in return for running an event in their area. Having some events integrated with Crankworx also seemed like a good formula for pulling interest and unique talent to the events at least for a time, as was the Trophy Des Nations - would be good to see those two things back in the mix.
