Using the longest shock possible will increase the control the damper has over the wheel travel, decrease forces, increase oil volume, decrease fluid pressures, reduce the sensation of any loose bushings/pivots. The biggest drawback is finding enough space to accommodate a long shock, especially on small frames. The theoretical drawback of increased stiction seems to be something of a marketers excuse/justification to me. Forks have 1:1 travel ratios and two huge seals; and though fork stiction is a thing I don’t think people limit their fork travel choices to reduce stiction (though smaller stanchion diameters might better suit lighter riders).

Or it shows how much he's been making as team owner? There were comments on a podcast last year that stood out at the time. I can't remember details but it was something along the lines of him absorbing something like £100k of costs due to flight increases, and Morganne more than doubling her salary after a good season. So the team obviously had plenty of slack in the budget to accomodate these changes.

Here's an interesting little bit of information from the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings of Wiggle/CRC: as part of the public process, the administrators have published a list of debts owed by Wiggle/CRC...there are some huge amounts on this list, they pretty much owe money to every cycling brand in the world and then some...but they also still owe Sam Hill GBP 35k (and his mechanic, Jacy, is owed GBP 4k). Team manager Nigel Page must have seen it coming because he apparently got his HAHA. More like I finally have the option of a downhill bike so I want to see what all the hype is about. I am plenty happy with Enduro and from what I've heard internally, contrary to rumours, Enduro isn't going anywhere. But just wait till you see my latest bike, new year new me.
