How about some specifics? What cassettes on what hubs? I've run XT and XTR Microspline cassettes on Race Face Vault and Industry Nine Hydra hubs with nary an issue. Zero marring on any of them.

Short answer: yes it does matter and there are some dramatic downsides to overfilling your bath oil. There’s not a lot of room for air when a single crown fork chassis bottoms out. Don’t need to make that space even smaller.

It is crazy how much gunk builds up in the bottom of the lowers and under the bottom out pads! This $4 bottle brush from bunnings is my favourite cleaning tool and I make sure they are spotless. I remember working in shops if we had a customer with filthy lowers and you just sprayed it with cleaner and wiped with a rag, you could open that fork back up a month later and would look filthy again! You really need to put some work in it, I don't think I've hosed out lowers before but it probably works great...

I would be surprised if your typical Taiwanese worker doesn't fully assemble the fork in the same time as it takes to manually burnish the bushings.

I don't know, chassis is pretty big part of the fork that is staying stock 🤷🏻

I've mentioned this worrying trend in depth in a few podcasts over the course of last year. From last year they have hindered the ability of many top 50/60 riders to garner any points in qualifying. Pretty soon very few riders (even much less than now) will be able to rightfully enter a World Cup without being on one of the World Series top teams or federation entries. With the switch to the points now staying with the teams and not the riders this year there will even less power of advantage and bargaining for top riders. (Note if teams...
