unlike world cups it looks like there are no ride arounds for the jumps within course limits. a flat tyre is pretty much means you cannot complete the course.
people are showing up (webcam) - and @Mr.Nally - like a lot of have said, the track is a reflection of local riding. so many trails in the area focus on connecting gross features despite slogs or even uphills.
Honestly I think it's going to look slow on TV, that's Shore riding. Steep and slow is kinda the name of the game here.
The boggy sections where they cross through Gibson's Glades over to Horizon will dry out....in August 2027. It is north facing and doesn't really get any sun. Assuming they hold it again next year I think the trail builders would fill that section in with dirt that will drain instead of leaving it raw, will make it more rideable in the wet.

Similar to 1199 track so, linking up the most interesting bits. Hopefully this one looks good on TV. Either way these riders will put on a show🔥
My guess is that they skipped the final jump because of the wind. Qualis are just to determine start order for this event. So the dnf doesn't really hurt them.

Flats and crashes. Wind only picked up for the last couple riders yesterday

The standard BC method of trail building is to go get baked and wander around the woods looking for the sickest gnar rock slab roll over here and then a cool tech jank section over there, and then rip a bong and get even more baked as you rapidly slap together an awkward, boggy, uphill billy goat traverse section to connect the two. I honestly wonder if most of the locals ride or walk these sections, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone but me.
The uphill boggy traverses in Hardline could not be more representative of the local trail flavor.
Also the racing has sick so far today, so I'm not complaining about the entertainment factor. Asa made the track look easy, because that's what he does.
This kid is from another planet. These established elites need to get what they can while they can. The level of confidence is frightening. first elite race, first elite win. first elite season, first elite title. won at every hardline stop. 97 foot backflip. what is going on... what is happening
As someone who has tripoded his way down my fair share of BC jank there was something strangely satisfying in watching some of the best in the world do the same. I do wonder what the uneducated observer thinks though?
This track was the perfect representation of riding on the shore. if you want to ride here, better get good at riding slippery roots, slippery rocks, slippery wood, and slippery uphill. Loved it. The challenge today was simply riding the natural stuff in the woods.

ronan's seeding day vlog
Right, I'm gonna say it. And I may be wrong.
But from the abundance of vlog footage I've seen. The track is actually pretty flat, boggy and weird.
Definitely hard, some insane sections, but overall maybe gonna look a bit slow live on TV?

Clear today but more wind. Riders hitting the final jump but been some eye openers
I think the gopro effect is taking its toll. Some well placed, uphill looking TV quality cameras with good perspectives can show the scale better.
Forgive me for I do not have IG… Were any of the other ladies able to complete a full run this AM?

Millie just posted a clip of Gracey and Tayte hitting the final jump together with a comment that it unlocked the full course for both of them.

Tayte has done everything but not a full run in one go. Heard she might not have to do that, I think Gwin didn’t at Maydena and still started.

Here we go!

Hope she gets to go with the event moved forward.
Also hope Gracey smokes some of the old guys.

Who thought it would be a good idea for Gracey to start immediately after Asa
Gracey started after Asa as she went faster than him in qualifying, that tends to be the whole point of qualifying
Why does it matter? They arent going intervals so they are the only ones on track
There’s Dutch corner on alpe d’huez and now Canadian corner on Cypress!
Good finish for the nz boys. Close but not quite

Huge props to Gracey for being the only woman to complete the run!
I feel for all the riders that had silly crashes but I guess that’s just part of the track. You can’t underestimate the traverse-y sections.

Tegan Cruz laid one down.
Interesting: The 3 Canadians who finished in the top 6 in the finals placed in the top 5 in the seedings.
(Okay, I found it interesting. I'm easily amused.🙂)
man it's crazy seeing the best in the world tip toe through sections like us common people. Must have been WILD.
