Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Not exactly a racer but Kyle Strait comes to mind
Darren Berrecloth lost his RB helmet years ago. Not sure why, but he seemed like a good ambassador.
Tanner Hall lost his RB helmet, despite still being one of the more recognized names in skiing, but Jon Olsson still has his, even though he hasn't put out ski content in... 5-10 years? Hardly even puts out car content anymore and basically just does business stuff.
I have no idea how RB decides on who keeps and loses helmets, but I imagine it has a lot to do with what they're like to work with. Gwin seems like exactly the kind of person who they'd keep indefinitely, but who knows. I'd love to know the ins and outs of those decisions.
Ya, was there more context around that? It seems like such a quiet convo aside from him acknowledging RB doesn't always have the athletes in mind (obviously) and they are ultimately an entertainment brand. I wonder if it was a particularly bad Rampage that severed that cord. Whatever the contract was, impressive to walk away from it if that's how it shook down.
And seemingly never tempted to look over the fence at Monster/Zink? Interesting. Seemed to just say 'i know energy drink brands for what they are'
Not a racer but Sam Pilgrim is very high profile but off monster.
The Hardline lineup is an absolute banger. Any reason why Oli Clark is omitted? He put down a heater in Wales and put out some of the best clips of the weekend.
Squamish definitely has the terrain to put together a Hardline, and I would be beyond stoked for it. I'd imagine making a track that can be televised as the major challenge. With that said, there are a lot of cut blocks in the region which could be used... And maybe with Jackson being such a high-profile RedBull athlete from the area, it pushes it into a real possibility. Another factor is making it work alongside the WC circuit, so it would be early or late season, which means some spicy conditions in Squam (but it's Hardline so it doesn't matter).
Dak's mechanic mentioned to me he was leaving the team while chatting in the misspent summers coffee line at Lenzerheide.
Maybe Dunne races Rotorua and Clark (or both?) Wales?
Or Clark focusses completely on his first elite year, which will be a great challange nevertheless.
Yep.... I don't want to see another Erice first elite year thanks!
Just checked Jon Olsson, you sure he still has it? Checking a few latest vlogs I didn't see it.
Also, Josh Bryceland ditched the Monster lid for drink water lid if I'm not mistaken.
Generally they can wear whatever they want when they aren’t on a bicycle.
I miss the pivot fly racing days. They stood out visually quite a bit more than they have in the leatt kit.
Max and Till Alran to Fox 😁

Yes, they can wear other brands when not on a bicyle. I can understand the helmet, because his helmets are not moto helmets (although leatt does have moto helmets) but full gear to me... looks suspicious. Same with the alrans. I mean, nowadays these people are the faces of the brands, not just riders. Plus, maybe wearing it, okay, but posting???
World cups to Netflix?
Source: various news outlets
Moving WorldCups to a global platform would be fare better than the fragmented distribution they have right now. There’s a platform for Europe, there’s FloSports in North America and several other platforms for people in other parts of the world. Costs for FloSports is ridiculous. I love watching, but I share an account with a roadie friend, then we’re not trying to log into the platform at the same time.
A Netflix partnership could inject money into the WorldCups, maybe even increase prize money….. wait I’m delusional lol 😂
Could be a bit outdated but I believe when Red Bull decides to stop paying athletes, they are offered basically to stay on as a friend of the brand - keep the helmet and still looks like an RB Athlete but its up to them. Don't 100% quote me on this but I spent a few years working for RB in the past (which seems like an eternity ago) and I believe this is how it was handled regarding some of the older athletes at the time.
He's still listed as an athlete on the RB site (although his bio hasn't been updated in a minute. Still talk of cars and the Jon Olsson Invitational keeping him busy. Lol)
The post above makes sense, where he is now a legacy athlete or "friend of RB". I'm guessing once upon a time, his contract was huge with them, but I think it's pretty clear his income (or the vast majority of it) isn't coming from that partnership anymore.
Jill Kintner lost her RB helmet in the last couple of years, also.
Makken was the first to go out of redbull...
Andreu Lacondeguy got Rampaged and now rides for Monster energy Mx..
I love RedBull medias but i drink water..
I drank my first Red Bull when I moved to Germany at 18 years old (it wasn't sold in Canada back then) and it might have been one of the most profoundly disappointing experiences of my life. Years of hype and sponsoring the coolest athletes and events, for it to taste like... carbonated medicine. lol
That's the weird thing, in terms of ultimately being an energy drink brand. Everybody I know who is addicted to energy drinks and actually drinks that shit, drinks Monster. And to the extent they talk about the million different flavors and they make new ones every year likes its got dam oreos. Energy drink industry is really, really weird. Like is Rockstar still a thing? Still sponsoring Enarson? I don't think I've ever seen a human actually drinking a Rockstar out in the wild. I don't know where things like RB and rockstar are popular. And rockstar doesn't have the media clout obviously. Weird, weird industry.
First time I had redbull it was the original non carbonated syrup in a glass bottle. It actually didn’t taste that bad to teenage me. I don’t know where the 7-11 got them from but they didn’t have them long.
Since this thread has turned into who lost Redbull lids and not Dak to Frameworks. I'll add this. Sorry admin I'll get my coat.
that might be a topic for a different thread, put the netflix/WB merger would be without the sports segment is what i read yesterday.
yuki stays on as reserve driver, so still on RB
I see a lot of people popping Red Bulls here in Slovenia when they need a pick me up. A lot more than Monsters I'd say. Maybe it's the more known brand over here, maybe it's the smaller package. Plus there's RedBull vodka... Haven't heard about a Monster vodka. And you'd need four vodkas for a monster where it's a 1:2 for Red Bull.
Drink El Tony mate trust me 😁
I get that, but typically he’s worn Leatt whilst riding moto. Time will tell!
I wonder how much of bks sponsorship deal is through the UK side of pivot (silverfish) if so they're also the UK tld distributor.
Any pro with an apparel sponsor with a power sports portfolio is 100% repping their kit on the moto. It's free, and sponsors love it when their riders ride in their other category and vice versa. Pivot is distributed in the UK by the fine folk at Saddleback, not Silverfish, who also distro TLD's bike line. I've always liked Leatt's riding kit, but their full-face helmet silhouettes have consistently been weaker compared to the likes of TLD, Bell and Fox. Nothing a bit of taste and industrial design can't fix, but given the lifespans of helmets, who knows? Regardless, this could be a great partnership for all involved!
Maybe UNNO will have a team?? They already had one World cup Team with Greg Williamson back in the day...
