Maybe every bike comes with a drill bit. Laughing

In all seriousness it'd be interesting to see sales figures at the end of the year to see which version is most popular.

I disagree, not a single person in my riding group is down for headset routed cables, most of us would prefer neatly done external given the option between headset and external routing.

I currently run fully external routing (the dropper hose enters the frame at the bottom of the seat tube). The next bike will likely be the same. I asked Propain yesterday (for a friend) if the Al Tyee can come with cables entering the downtube port instead of the headset from the factory as it would be stupid to have to replace the outers, cables and the rear brake hose just to have a normal setup.

The problem is I, you and your riding group are clearly not the average buyer. The average buyer buys with the eyes, not the head. Through headset routing (for better or worse) looks better. Therefore it will sell more. Even more so if it will be the default option when speccing a bike - most people won't change the spec and I doubt it's possible to change it after the fact because of the above mentioned hose length issue.

I think it might look cleaner, so it works when seeing it online or from some distance.

As soon as you're getting closer you start noticing ugly proportions and poorly executed details. I saw an UNNO dash in person recently and the cheap shitty looks of that cable entry at the headset would be a dealbreaker even if I was okay with headset routing.

Vorsprung has been teasing what looks to be a shock, and their latest instagram post hints that they’ve collaborated with sprindex.

Probably a Strive that is small enough for Jesse.

Also some of the updates Fox made to the X2 according to their website

https://www.ridefox.com/family.php?m=bike&family=floatx2

NEW base valve piston design and compression tune for increased damping performance and improved sensitivity

NEW bearing housing seal package virtually eliminates possibility of aeration

NEW scraper seal for improved durability

NEW more robust eyelet design on trunnion models

NEW 7000 series shock body on all models

NEW hard chrome damper shaft finish for increased durability

dunno if these „official“ points have been talked about here yet

pit bits from fort william BDS. most interesting is matt walker's proto and mention of atherton bikes running different flext patterns in the printed parts. some of the teams didn't want to give much up at this point. matt and the bike look so dialed in the riding footage. raw tomorrow

I emailed fox Canada the other day about an aerated shock ( Im not the original owner) and they said they have a ‘fix for this trouble’ for $200cad. Haven’t sent it in yet though

On the Atherton flex experiment, I figured it was the same lugs with the flex tuned by changing the wall thickness or layup of the carbon tubes. I wonder.

Might be easier for them to adapt the wall thicknesses and fill ratios of the 3D printed parts to achieve a similar effect.

I know it has been mentioned already but are there any updates on the new boxxer release, shouldn’t it be spring/early 2023?

That’s about time now, a friend of mine is building up a new bike and it would be good to know if it’s worth it to wait for the new one.

Looking at the proto Saracen, it has a split pivot at the rear. What's up with the Split Pivot patent then? Trek shoed their variant at about the same time, supposedly giving them the ability to use the design royalty free, but what about Orbea and now Saracen? Is the SP patent US only?

EDIT: it appears to be so. Is Orbea sold in the US?

Yes, my LBS (in California) is a dealer.

Looks like the same layout as the dh bike there are pictures of. There’s a pivot on rear triangle, can’t remember if on chain or brake stay.
Both colours look really good. Nice builds.

It is (source: I worked at an Orbea dealer last summer). Devinci, Orbea, Hope, and Antidote all use it, to name a few off the top of my head.

So the new bike will go with a much lower and more reasonable HP ? Riders were getting sick of getting pitched forward at the worst of times maybe ? Looks nice lets hope the finish and build quality matches the style of the bike, it might become a good contender.

As if they used 5Dev cranks as rockers.

3d printed and designed using topology optimisation (removing the unneeded material).

The "new Vivid", could it be called Hyper Deluxe? 😜

Possibly just blown up to a 1:1 pixel size and we're seeing the effects of post processing.

The photo isn't original, someone added filters - modifications on it !

That photo does look suspiciously AI modified. The tyre in the foreground doesn’t have that grainy filter so it’s not a standard photo filter. The main issue is that the pivot points on the linkage aren’t even close to being round.

What "getting pitched forward at the worst of times" are you talking about? Im riding a Dreadnought and never experienced this behaviour so far, and never heard of it. Im interested if this is really a know characteristic of the bikes and something that people complain about? And how do you fix it by lowering the pivot point?
