Potato quality but Zaka Johansen is on the new Ibis in his latest youtube. Looks like he's running it mullet, hopefully it can do both wheel sizes

From the Trek XC racing team camp video that dropped today.
New XC race bike/bikes coming soon.
I've heard team riders have been unhappy with Trek's bike options for worldcup XC racing. Basically only have the Supercaliber or a hardtail. The current Supercaliber is as heavy as a 120mm bike but only offering up 60mm of travel. Since they're hyping the Supercaliber in the video that means a new one is coming. I'm assuming it will be ~80mm of travel and good bit lighter. Also believe they HAVE to bring out a super light 100 or 120mm XC/downcountry bike. That is a gaping hole in their lineup and a tool their World Cup XC riders need badly to keep up with the modern 100-120 bikes out there on the circuit.

It looks like and updated Force, which isn't surprising since the previous sensor was a Force with a different shock stroke. The only/main diff seems to be the top tube that got slimmed down quite a bit. The rocker looks nearly identical with the current Force. Pivot locations seems also very similar so I would expect low AS and very low AR, if they made the geo a lot more slack it might be decent to ride, otherwise I will be glad I choose not to wait any longer lol.

It's actually the sensor, forgot to screenshot the next story and now it's gone Sad

Also, I believe GT will stick with the high pivot on the Force a little longer. At least for the next one or two generations.

It would make sense, it looks exactly like the old one in carbon did.

Also, what could go wrong... It could delaminate. Ont he other hand, welds can crack and nobody beats an eyye about that. And as I said multiple times, a lot of things made from aluminium are glued together and work perfectly fine, possibly better than if they were welded even.

It wasn't a great look when the same year the Supercaliber came out, I believe Orbea and/or Specialized came out with their respective 100mm full suspension XC bikes that were lighter than the 60mm Supercaliber. It was a unique concept, but I don't think it necessarily offered any significant advantages over a traditional full suspension layout in the end. Another issue (that wasn't a problem for the pros) was that the Supercaliber was never offered in alloy and was expensive, so as a shop you didn't have much to offer younger racers other than a hardtail or a 'downcountry' bike.

While there is room in the lineup now for a revised full sus XC bike, I don't know if there is room for it and a Supercaliber. The Supercaliber has only been in the lineup for one model cycle (so maybe they want to recoup costs on development and keep it), but I would think they either offer it in longer (80-100mm) travel or more likely they scrap it and make a 'traditional' XC full suspension in the same range. I could be completely wrong though.

Voting pedals for the I9 mystery... They'd fit in that box, seems like the market has a limitless capacity to absorb high end pedals, even in a post COVID bubble environment, and I could have sworn I saw an IG pic of someone on prototype I9 pedals years ago, a picture I've never been able to find again... It also fits their manufacturing capability pretty nearly.

Second guess is a headset, or more stems, but they've got good coverage on their core stem markets. Longer machined stems for road/gravel seems unlikely. Machined cranks are... Maybe? Not a great application for heavy machining, most of the time.

One of your guesses is correct. Wink

Doesn't seem to have a brain. My guess is a normal sidluxe shock, possibly with an electronic lockout. The right side of the fork looks oddly bulky and not at all like the current "Brain/SID" fork damper.

Yea, would assume standard SID Lux shock under there and maybe very small carbon swing link to shape the leverage curve and provide stiffness.
Yes, damper cap one the fork does not look standard but there appears to be a "Brain" sticker on the fork leg. So maybe that's what's going on.
Wireless lockout around the corner but assume we'll see it on the SIDLux before the fork. And SRAM wouldn't mix the "Brain" name with their wireless naming options. So this might be a Specialized only damper. Also running the new drivetrain and brakes.

I like those colours. What mistakes are on the geo chart?

Mike Kazimer from the other website is testing the new sram drivetrain, looks like a flat top chain. Release presumably soon.

That's a flat top chain. If you download the image, it indicate the photo has been taken on the 02/07

Looks like the Sommet frame finally has the bosses in the top tube that the Escarpe already had
