Maybe sometime in the future Leatt can open up and tell us why World Cup riders don't use neckbraces anymore...
Does anybody ride with a neckbrace these days? I mean, like, ANYBODY?
Mx
But the main reason why riders don’t use them anymore is because with longer bikes and steep tracks they cannot bend their neck back far enough in order to look ahead.
203mm is 8" so if you want to blame anyone, blame America 😂
I think racers didn't acknowledge it because why would you openly taunt the bike gods stating "I don't need that protection!"
When I stopped wearing mine, I shifted to a chest protector and have been so lucky to have it on in the many crashes I had and continue to have.
Seems like quite a few of the WC are doing so as well in recent years, along with elbow pads which were taboo for so long.
That might be one reason that WC riders don't wear them. The risk of neck injury is lower than the risk of a broken collar bone, and a broken collar bone would put them out for a good chunk of the season if not all of it.

Wearing a full face at the time of the crash would likely prevent an operation and two titanium plates (arguably the neck might suffer more, as the face is an effective crumple zone...), but I still hate the feeling and impracticality of it in daily riding. Not riding it means I'm not used to it and it makes me slower.
I do wholeheartedly admit it's a getting used to it thing. If it was mandatory everywhere, people would get used to it eventually.
I had 2 plates put in my orbital and maxilla, and I was wearing a TLD D3. all of my friends I was with all asked if goggles would have helped and I personally dont think so with the velocity I was carrying.
I cant even imagine going through what I went through without a fullface on. Props man. I feel like a fullface might have helped but I am not a doctor.
Now I dont like riding as much without a fullface.
My plates hold together the Maxilla, right by the nose.
It did have an effect on my psychology, but not to a point where I'd reach for a full face.
Back to rumors!!
Young lad had some top results last season
