Surely a 38mm Boxxer sometime this year ? The current 35mm noodles are getting left behind by Fox and Ohlins

Every time someone calls boxxer stanchions noodles I can immediately tell they haven’t ridden one. But yeah I’m sure it’s in the pipeline so they stay trendy

Sounds like Gwin is working on/testing a high pivot bike to do due diligence. Not that it's surprising. I figured he would have had a proto high pivot bike a year ago with Steber's penchant for prototyping.

Re the norco, Blenki surely hasn't been racing DH on an enduro bike with boxxers on it has he?
If it’s 170 rear, he could be running a 180/190/200 boxxer and the travel wouldn’t seem that abnormal? Or maybe even has a custom link to slightly up the rear travel, doesn’t seem too unreasonable. Also a bit of a testament to the new linkage design if he has actually been running it stock on the rear with a slightly longer dual crown and winning NZ national champs
FYI, a 200 mm boxxer is a few mm higher in the ATC compared to the a 180 mm Zeb, so negligible. You can easily run a 200 mm dual crown fork on a bike designed for a 180 mm single crown fork as long as the wheel doesn't hit the frame at full squish.

Based on the leaked catalog picture, there seems to be enough room to run a shock with a longer stroke, say maybe 75mm.
Based on my own bike design, the rearward axle path will make enough clearance for 200mm or more travel. The only problem will be there's not enough chain for the 50/51/52T cog at bottom out with the current rear derailleur designs. You shouldn't have that problem if you stick to a dh drivetrain though.
I'm excited for this bike. I might get one and run it as a downduro bike when it comes out.
What would be interesting and rad would be if Intense tried a dual link virtual high pivot design ala Canfield Jedi, no one else seems to be playing with that yet, just single pivot and horst link HP bikes lately.
(Ps. yes I know a horst link is also technically a virtual pivot point )

I think this is just a test bike to see if the concept works for him. He's not going to be seen riding it until they're certain they're going to race it. Otherwise it undermines the sales of the current platform he's on.

But you do realize he had been racing prototype that is very different to what they are selling for the past year, right?
In regard to the new Norco, I didn’t see anybody post these yet. I’m still inclined to believe this is the new Range considering the bike has some bottle mounts. Unless they are going to include them on downhill bikes now...?

I think it's pretty hard to design a bike with a virtual IC (dual link or horst, which are pretty the same thing in this regards) that stays "high" through travel without messing too much with the antisquat, given it would be difficult to use an idler.
It is a bit harder, but still doable I'd say. The antisquat should more or less work optimally only around the sag, otherwise it tends to float up and down the range a bit. It's very similar to a horst link at the end of the day, the IC moves around about the same as the top link (bottom on this Norco) is also short and rotates quite a bit.

It's not as if bottle mounts add that much weight to a frame, or reduce strength significantly. Why not have them on a downhill bike. Electrolytes on park laps or race practice. Good stash spot for pipe and lighter on park laps or race practice. Just basic water on park laps or practice? Why not have the option? If GG can base four or more bikes off of one front triangle, why not add downhill capability? Racers tune their suspension to different race tracks. Why not have the option of tuning the suspension travel as well?

BTW i totally forgot to post it before, but Pirelli have been working on a dh tire for some time. I know tires are a bit boring but given Pirelli's background in offroad (let's say they make the minion equivalent of the mx world) I think they may release something interesting. It doesn't look like any of their current offering but I might be wrong.
SRAM just posted this. With the hashtag #alldayaxs

Looks like an assegei copy. Not a bad tread pattern to rip off
