The original mules for the m29s also looked similar, Jeff probably buys the tubes in bulk and then makes everything out of them. Even though the bikes might look similar the linkages is what really sets them apart from one another. Just like all the Santa Cruz bikes look similar but they’re very different! And the meme that “looks like a session” has become. The looks don’t usually tell the real story.
Well production bikes usually have different tubesets, even more so for the big companies. But protos from Intense being made from the same tubes? Hell yes. Bird used to use the same tubeset for all their bikes and sizes, just cut to length.
And yeah, it's the linkages, location and length, AND geometry that makes the bikes different.
How does a bike even work with 25mm id rims - I mean I'm surprised no one has died yet 😉😉
What perplexes me is how did Brosnan, Gwin, Bruni, Iles etc ride those Specialized Demo's with 135mm rear ends. I had one and probably ride 1/4 of aboves pace and could feel shit squirming underneath me. Hearing the rotor rub while deathgripping a corner is weird.
That was a legit WTF design option, they said it was to allow the "rear end to sneak through rock gardens" lol.

Bruni and Iles are on 148mm rear ends with the new Demos. Intense is still running the 150mm DH. Pretty sure the canyons are 150mm too.

The only thing keeping Intense alive right now is the Tazer I bet. They are coming out with a version with a triple clamp fork that is going to be sold at Moto dealers. Actually that is a smart play and Intense does have that So Cal Moto cred going for it.
Beyond that I don't see much innovation at all. As others have also wondered, I too wonder about the prototype Isabeau rode at des Nations last year. If I was intense I'd putting a lot more cycles towards that than DH. Way more of a market.
I can tell you in I've got 30 in boxes in the back and 20ish on the sales floor right now. So that not small numbers for sold bikes as far as intense goes. And they're selling. The Sniper T is pretty up to date in the downcountry world and selling well and we sold out of Primer S's a month ago.
I think a lot of riders were disappointed by the new Primer geo, but I think they seem to appeal to a larger number of riders, not just the people on the bleeding edge of the sport that are buying bikes based on geo and anti-squat numbers. Remember how many people who bought plus bikes a few years ago? There's a pretty big population of normal day to day riders out there that the Primer geo is perfect for. It's their Giant Trance.
As for the proto, I'm waiting on the numbers to pop up. If they mess this one up they're done for the serious crowd. I loved my tracer but it's 5 years old and two geo generations behind the game now. And the primers a year newer but came out with more dated geo than the Tracer had.

am actually glad that the new Primers aren't crazy long... think bikes are too long now... My dad just got his new Primer from jenson today... thing looks sick af! Can't wait to see the new enduro bike!

How is 'can't convert between 27,5 and 29' a weakness when it has two shock mounting position exactly for the 27,5 option? https://i.imgur.com/t8EQsfK.png
EDIT: explained in the video. The linkage is shared, rear triangles are different. Quite a SNAFU from Canyon... (and could be better explained by Vital in the article as well)
Spotted these Forbiddens the other day. Seem updated or maybe different to anyone?

Maybe, maybe not... but a ZEB (minimum 160mm travel) would be a bold choice for a 130mm Druid.
there have been rumors of development of a longer travel iteration for a while, and the profiling around the forward shock mount is a bit different, so it would appear that this is that. rad.

I'd agree with that.
With the Druid the shock seems more nestled into the downtube, than on those pictures.
Then again I actually didn't find a non-driveside pic from the Druid.
(Maybe it looks incredibly hideous from that side?)
2021 Trek Slash 7 (Alloy)
looks very much like a kona process 153
170 Front 160 Rear
HTA: 64.6 High 64.1 Low
STA: 76.1 High 75.6 Low (Could be better)
Reach: 20-30mm longer compared to last generation
Internal Frame Stage (Carbon and Alloy)
Super Deluxe with Thru Shaft (spec'd due to 'clearance issues')
34.9mm Seat Tube
Threaded BB
Even if they add 20-30mm on the reach in there they’re still missing 20-30mm to be considered modern. Treks bikes were the best in the business a few year ago but in 2016 they just got lazy and ceased to innovate which is exactly what geometry they still use. Seat tubes slack as hell and long as hell, head angles from the early 2000s and reach straight from 2014... no wonder their factory riders like Reece Wilson are 5ft 7in and on an XL with a +7mm reach adjustment Headset. Get with the times already. And wtf is that Color? Looks like a sweater from the 80s.

Apparently internal storage for alloy and carbon models, 1 degree slacker HTA etc. Looking forward to seeing some pics
