Let’s bring up the ole Cannondale rumors... I snapped these pics back in November at MCBP’s closing weekend. Looks to be a new long travel 29er with possibly the new fox 38. Looking back in it, the rear shock looks to be different than the production FLOAT X2 with a larger IFP reservoir.


It’s literally just the same design as the DH bike in an enduro version.

New colorway for Team Dorval. This colorway will probably also find it’s way into Commencals lineup for 2021

New colorway also for the Canyon DH team. I assume that Mark Wallace is already riding the new version of the Sender

Did Blake just confirm (check the above video at 1:20) that the new Sender will be a mullet bike? Canyon would be the first brand - please correct me if I am wrong - which offers a mullet DH bike to their customers. It will be interesting to see what wheel sizes/wheel size mixes they are going to offer.

Nope, he just confirm what we saw : mullet Sender in test last year (by Troy if I remember well), and Finn and Loïc riding mullet Demo.
Not a word about available mullet bikes for you and me.

The article is mentioning a rear pivot. With the world going flex tail (Cannondale being one of them for QUITE a while with Canyon and then Specialized of all brands joining suit) i can not imagine them putting a pivot there.

That's the point i'm trying to make. The pivot-less system is so advanced, that Cannondale themselves have been using it for like 20 years. A quick google search shows that pre 2008 they used a seatstay pivot (a-la single pivot), but not a BB pivot! The 2008 model appears to have done away with the chainstay pivot as well, with 2012 29er bringing in (not back) the BB pivot. The 2017 (current gen) still has it, but still does not have the pivot at the rear axle.

So, the idea that Cannondale would be adding a pivot to an XC bike after so many years of experience running without pivots, but with flex stays is a bit daft to me. Granted, it could be added for performance reasons, but that's why i mentioned Canyon and Specialized, the holy grail company of chainstay pivots (they did away with it only after the FSR patent expired). And i forgot to mention Scott, who also use a flex rear triangle on their Spark bikes. On aluminium rear ends to boot!

So that's my point, mentioning that a pivot could be hidden in there is either ignorance about XC bikes and Cannondale's Scalpel history (I was racing XC 15 years ago and i still remember the machines i was drooling over) or just a tactic to rouse up comments. TBH i fell for it...

EDIT: interestingly they have a gaping hole in the front triangle and mount the rear triangle from the inside, not the other way like it's usually done on bikes.

Just a theory here but... I've heard plenty of complaints that the Fox 40 is just too stiff. What if the new 38 enduro fork is a test bed not only for a burlier single crown as well as a slightly more compliant DH fork? The Fox 389?
