Mondraker finally has a 29er full enduro bike. Wonder if they will have a factory team or go as a frame sponsor
like they do with MS? I know they have some local Spanish guys, but with such a big name (for a small brand)
I am waiting for them unleash at team.

Matt Jones’ contract is up this year...
Is he resigning or leaving Marin?
He must have done some good deals because in the last month he’s bought a house and a Porsche gt3. Good on him.

He seems happy enough and is throwing a lot of money at Marin bike projects. I'd guess he's resigned.

He's a youtuber now. Following the money. Dropped by Fox, and ends up on Haibike dirtjumping emachines.

On a similar note, does anyone remember why Duncan Nason was released mid-season last year?
Why do you think that Richie is potentially leaving Yeti?
Pure speculation from earlier on in the thread, at the end of 2017 he resigned with Yeti for "X" number of years. Fun to throw shite at the wall and see what sticks eh?

Rude to Mongoose to fill Akrigg's spot.

Sofia Gomez Villafane off Pivot/Stans XC. She had some good results domestically last year, will be interesting to see what’s next going into the Olympic year. I’m not sure what the selection process is for Argentina but I think she is probably a sure pick.

Re: The fmd Insta post - I didn’t read that as royal racing but as British royalty, hence Peaty.
Earlier my comment about Pivot downsizing their sponsored athlete roster was debunked as false... however, it's apparent Pivot is slashing riders from CX, MTB (XC) and looks like Ed Masters leaving too. So, my original statement that they're likely pulling back rider sponsorship in 2020 appears to be true. That said, there may be a barrage of new rider signings on Jan 1. Seems doubtful though.

Not dropped, his choice, and he is very much a full time rider still,

And I think Joey Foresta. Hes 18 now so possibly stepping into Senior/pro.

Makes me wonder if they're clearing room for another athlete or athletes or if the program is in real trouble. I think Martin with his skills and results and Wyn with his style and social media work are both super marketable.

I think I recall reading the Cannondale/GT were in big financial trouble again or perhaps that dorel was in trouble financially. I could see that making sense with the fire sale happening with GT, mongoose dropping athletes and rumors of Cannondale closing down their racing programs.

Dorel said its bike line was doing awesome and closed the year strong as a total company.

If riders are getting the axe, it isn't for legit financial reasons...

Cannondale has a lot of $$$$ tied up in road (EF), XC (CFR) and CX (cannondale/cyclocross world). I think it’s safe to say that their long travel sales aren’t even in the same galaxy as those 3 segments. In the US, especially now with Marco on transition, you MIGHT see one single Jekyll at a big enduro event. GTs are even fewer, I probably see more propains at a BME race than GT.

I see quite a few jekylls on the BC Enduro/CNES scene, more than some other companys, and a growing number of GT's as well. I feel the last 5 years have been flat for them but both may be shaking their budget/weird bike name in Canada at least. The habit in particular is a super fun bike, if a bit more cookie cutter than previous offerings.

Is Veronika Widmann's contact up or is she getting new sponsors? She was 3rd overall this season.

Clif will be on Specialized for 2020. Katka is already racing a Crux in the CXWC.

On the east coast I see far more GT and Cannondale at the ESC enduro/DH races. Almost to the point where they out populate trek/specialized/giant etc

Heard that Cannondale is going to MEC here in Canada, not sure if that is true. I know when Intense went that route (leaving OGC) it did not go great and now they are doing the online thing.

Makes sense. Is mtn creek still using gts for rentals? from memory they did for awhile.

In the Rocky mtn region, it’s a pretty even mix. Probably just as many pivots as yetis, etc.

Reed Boggs is off trek according to his Instagram and Johnny salido said in his insta he has a new frame sponsor for 2020. Could transition be dropping salido and getting Boggs?

Can confirm Cannondale is at MEC, but they were already at REI in the US and sporting life in Canada so it doesn't seem like something out of the blue. I guess they're replacing Ghost

I'd be interested in seeing home many Intense's OGC was actually selling per season. I've seen high end shops with maybe 10-15 frames and bikes in store. Having worked at a very small shop in new Brunswick, ordering a single carbine frame was like pulling teeth even though there wasn't an intense dealer in a few 100km and I'm sure that was pretty standard around the country for shops that couldn't afford to have "dealer" status by ordering a fleet of bikes. Having seen Dunbars past selection and a few other shops like Calgary cycle or bow over the years since, it was still usually an order type of deal with enough stocked bikes to be the local dealer. And they always just seemed to be a second color choice to Santa Cruz.

MEC seems stocks every model, built and size their big stores, the Calgary store has 120 built in that store. The amount of bikes at their stores suggests that that partnership isn't hurting intense in anyway. The new Primer was in their stores the week it was announced. I know I've seen far more of their trail bikes in southern Alberta than I saw 4 years ago.

Same for ghost, who ever saw those before in Canada? They seem to be everywhere for the time being.
